Other Republicansprivatelysaid they were disturbed by Gosar's appearance at the white nationalist conference and are concerned that it tacitly signals the embrace of extremist groups that have no place in the GOP. Only some were publicly willing to call out Gosar's attendance at the event.

Well, there's your problem.  Some Republicans are embracing extremism, the rest are doing nothing.

At this point, there's only two kinds of Republican: clueless partisans that are voting straight ticket because politics to them is a zero sum game and they're just rooting for their team, and fascists.

If the current republican party doesn't see white nationalism, fascism, xenophobia, and an insurrection led by the leader of their own party as extremism, what the fark do they think actually is extreme? Genocide? Blowing up the sun? Canceling Dr. Seuss?

You know how your college girlfriend calls you over spring break and says she missed her period? And you're like first of all we're in different parts of the state, I can't do a whole lot from here, and also I'm no biology student well maybe you are but you haven't graduated, and you try to plan your new life in like a minute?

Yeah, these guys aren't on that level yet.

Why not? They seem to conflate "Being Revolting" with "Being Revolutionary".

It is interesting to note, that at a national level, neither team seems to know what is going on in the real world. Keep your donations specific, so they will be effective. And pay close attention to local and state races. Ratfarkery at those levels doesn't get the sunlight that it deserves.

Its the same dilemma the Democrats faced in the 60s. Keep the racist Dixiecrats or write off the south.

Don't leave a primary open to the likes of MTG , denounce conspiracy nuttery, if they did this they could realign. There's a lot of old boomer Democrats they might attract, the types that are frightened by progressive policies and are selfish boomers.  Run a Romney type and they'd have a shot. Let Trump form his splinter party.

They've got a tough problem.  The Corporate Wing of the GOP, which used to be most of the party and is where the money all used to come from, has gotten stuck with the RWNJ and racist side not only getting into office (like the Koch-funded Tea Party did) but making policy and being an irreplacably large chunk of their voter base.

Individual centrist/moderate Republicans can go change parties, but the Corporate Wing isn't going to get the kind of 1%er and corporate tax cuts they want by moving to support the Democrats, though they could get mostly-free trade back, much less getting the radical removal of all environmental protections and climate change policies that Trump gave them, so they're stuck between
- hoping the Deplorables fade away now that Trump's gone
- hoping they can annoy Trump into starting a Patriot Party to take the Deplorables away (which will lose them power for a few years, but will probably help them in the long run, and meanwhile there's enough embedded two-party system that the Deplorables will probably vote for their local-office candidates enough.)
- giving up on the GOP and forming a new center-right party (which Egg McMuffin Evan McMullin has been recommending) which will cost them a lot more power and infrastructure, but they'll get to be the Tories or Whigs or something and may let them steal more Blue Dog Democrats than the "Trump goes away" option does.

Republicans do not believe there is any such thing as right-wing extremism.  To them, all extremism is left-wing by definition.

Remember, no matter how deranged a Republican is, he always, always, ALWAYS considers himself to be a centrist who represents the mainstream of American thought.

A Libertarian space program is available for a final solution.

Another of Elon Musk's luxurious rockets exploded the other day.

The price for Democrats to get a ticket is $100 million dollars but Republicans get a discount. They can ride far away from brown Earth's horrible, scary taxes into lovable tax free outer space for the low, low price of 50 cents.

What's interesting is that the Soviets and the USA lost probably around the same number of rockets, but the human safety factor with the USA was much higher because NASA and the Air Force made human safety a high priority.  The Soviets didn't, because they had the glory of screaming "First!" with a few things and wanted it even more, and so people higher up pushed when they shouldn't have.  So the Soviets lost a lot of ground crew and scientists because the rockets blew up.  The USA didn't lose as many when American rockets blew up.

So what I am wondering is how many SpaceX employees would have died if we didn't have as strong of worker safety regulations.  Or if SpaceX operated out of Russia or China.

I've been wondering this for years but when your entire media platform accuses the opposition party of "literally" trying to destroy the country, and say of their humanitarian policies that their intent is to steal money from the white middle class to give that money to lazy "other" people, and scream about how democrats want to empty prisons and destroy the police so republicans wives and daughters are raped... when that's your policy rebuttal and you've been screaming it for over 20 - 30 years, how are you surprised your party has become openly violent and extreme?
