Talking Heads live band for the Remain in Light tour was formidable.

Adrian Belew, Bernie Worrell, Busta Jones, Stephen Scales and of course the subject of TFA on backup vox

Yeah, stylistically, they nailed it with Oleta.

Good read and she sounds like an interesting lady.  Being about as musically inclined as dirt I can say I've never really thought much about what goes into being a back up singer & having to deal with the lead singer's bs.

Luckily it seems like she overall had good experiences but I'm sure there are plenty of singers who are nightmares to work with

Reminded me of the documentary Twenty Feet From Stardom - lots of amazing stories from those talented women.

Such an amazing concert. Crosseyed and Painless from that show is my favorite Talking Heads recording, probably just for Belew's guitar.

Tina must have had the patience of Job to put up with Chris Frantz. His autobiography is a mess, and he happens to drop in the last 10 or so pages that, oh yeah, he had a drug problem that almost destroyed his marriage - but why mention that in the preceding 300+ pages.

There are a number of relatively unknown and definitely under appreciated performers out there that make music better.  Backup singers, horns and extra percussion filling out the sound.   Session guys that make solo acts songs sound amazing. Studio wizards that get that sound just right.  I pretty much love any article about these folks.

If you heard it from David Byrne I'd take it with a grain of salt.

I actually appear to have missed that one.  I can get it through Prime via trial on their Dox channel, so I may do that this weekend.  Thanks!

I was there for The Police's Synchronicity tour in Atlanta, the Omni... the one that was released to video.

Yes, the trio of singers (including Dolette) were far to the left of the stage, well away from the band.  They were definitely treated like afterthoughts.  But they were very talented, and one of the things I remember about that experience.
