I thought the first one was entertaining.  Interesting concept, sort of like a societal revenge fantasy dreamt up by a perverse librarian.

I think they shushed everything that needed to be shushed in the first one. But according to CA law, a horror movie that makes 2005.61% of its budget requires several sequels and a reboot.

Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadu: Esroc: The first one lost me with the nail in the board that had no reason to be there, wasn't actually nailed to anything, had somehow not been a problem for the years they had lived there, and served no purpose except to ratchet up the tension.

This is the prime example to be used in arguments about suspension of disbelief.  Yes, we can turn our brains off to enjoy the action and tone, despite a ridiculous plot and dumb characters.  But even the dumbest, most inept builder/contractor couldn't have managed to have a nail protrude pointy side up out of the middle of a farking stair tread.  Hell, a random Lego piece would have been more believable.

There are a lot of ignorant people out there that do not know what it takes to build anything, let alone stairs.
But they should understand how loud things are, like is snoring a death sentence? Pouring water can be pretty loud, how did drawing a bath not summon the monsters? Oh, because the script said not as this scene okay....

Office fans made this shiat movie successful.

JohnBigBootay: I don't know why people are  debating all this. If 'Ow My Balls' was a movie and it made money there would be a sequel in short order.

"Ow My Taint"?
