I was not expecting it to be set in the same universe as How the West was Fun.

Like how they set up 3 different characters for the next set of movies.   Everyone brought their A game to the roles.  Would like to have seen more Kat Dennings tho'

You only counted three?

We have Monica Rambeau for Captain Marvel 2. Wanda Maximoff for Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. White Vision for whatever they want him in (strange that he just disappeared from the show as soon as Wanda's Vision dealt with him). Ralph Boehner who deserves his own entire movie now. Debra Jo Rupp's character along with Sarah/"Dottie" in some wacky comedy targeted at a female demographic.

Also, was Ralph's last name a reference to Growing Pains?

Like everything Marvel, they managed to not quite stick the landing.

I mean this was a nice ending, but very far from being the best episode.

Monica got her powers from going through the Hex barrier multiple times.  Maybe Debra Jo and Dottie get very minor powers from going through the barrier when it collapsed.  Like Debra Jo has the power to animate and control potato salad.  Dottie can turn into small appliances with 220v European plugs.  Kind of a Wonder Twins/Odd Couple vibe with lots of wacky hijinks.  In the first episode, the ladies investigate rumors of a satanic cult in the local Church.  Dottie disguises herself as a Norwegian rice cooker to overhear a conversation between a demon and the vicar.  Debra Jo saves the day at the church potluck because everybody brings potato salad.

"Disappointed, but not unsatisfied" would sum up my review.
A solid "B" ep, just doesn't measure up to the brilliance of earlier episodes.

My takeaways:
-Mephisto is gonna show up any day now. Yep. Annny day now..
-Ralph deconfirms a lot of other fan theories floating out there, too
-Feige really kinda threw Agents of SHIELD under the bus here, but not unexpected

It needed 10 minutes.  Mostly to develop the Captain Marvel C-plot just a tad more, but mostly Kathryn Hahn really deserved to be allowed to cover the entire set with her teeth-marks.  I'd rate it 4.5/5.

Okay, so ignoring a whole host of other problems (like the most shameless new-character shoehorning-in since Spidey in Civil War and Agatha still being kind of superfluous)..... can someone tell me why Wanda is the heroine and Agatha and Hayward are somehow villains? The woman is a straight-up galactic menace who has the blood of dozens on her hands and didn't even apologize to the town full of people that she brain-damaged. Captain Marvel 2 is just like, "Eh... they'll come around," which really flies in the face of the whole dealing with reality/repurcussions theme the show pretended to be about before the flying glowy witch/android fight.

On a related note: maybe I'm just getting too old and lame to enjoy this stuff.

I whole-heartedly endorse the new Scarlet Witch look and outfit.  I'm curious as to why Wanda's Vision didn't tell her that the White Vision now has all of the real Vision's memories?  Or maybe it's implied that she knows that now?  No matter what, I just hope to see more of Paul Bettany in the future, even if it's back to just voicing Jarvis.

I'm looking forward to the making-of special next week. Should be fun.

And in two weeks we get Falcon and Bucky. I expect that show to be much more "traditional" MCU, so it shouldn't cause the same level of divisiveness off the start.

Surprisingly that was the one rumor that was true in that no one from Dr. Strange would appear in the show.

So the witness protection identity was a red herring?  Alternatively, they could always retcon it to say it was "Ralph" later on.  We don't know for certain that Agatha gave him his superspeed.  It could still turn out to be alt-Pietro if they choose.

And I guess Paul Betany's big tease of working with an actor he admired was really about working with himself?

So, who stole the boys away before they got de-Hexed out of existence?  I wouldn't be surprised if Evan Peters *is* playing Mephisto in the long run.

NeoCortex42: So the witness protection identity was a red herring?

It doesn't have to be a red herring or anyone special. It could be just the reason. An entire city went off the map, just happened to be the kind of place witness protection might stash someone.

Honestly, after all these years people should realize how straight-forward MCU writing has been.

AdrienVeidt: So, who stole the boys away before they got de-Hexed out of existence?  I wouldn't be surprised if Evan Peters *is* playing Mephisto in the long run.

I don't think they got stolen away.  They were put to bed and then vanished at the same time Vision did.

I do think that Wanda's intense studying of the Darkhold at the end is her trying to find a way to permanently bring them back into the "real" world.  That could be the move that breaks reality enough for Strange to step in for the movie.

Introducing Mephisto in a TV series always seemed a bit of a reach to me, but having him be the big bad in the next Doctor Strange movie, when the first one gave us Dormamu, is certainly possible.  I just hope that they don't drop the Mordo thread entirely.

I am content and thoroughly enjoyed that. The only thing I was sad about was Fietro not being what we wanted. But who knows, maybe he'll get retconned? deconned? reconned?

I didn't really expect to see AOS pulled in, so that wasn't too surprising.

And that last end credit scene. Boy does having that item with that person seem like a horrible idea. Bad thing, no touch.

Count me in the "really enjoyed it" camp.

The show was always going to be fairly low-stakes and centered purely around Wanda and Vision, so all of these giant theories that would be hard to explain in the next proper movies were never going to happen. I think they set out what they wanted to do and evolved Wanda and Vision in the ways they needed to for Phase IV.

Fietro being "Ralph" is almost hysterical in the way they subverted the "OMG THEY JUST INTRODUCED MUTANTS" crowd. Nope, the casting was just a nod to his other role and Agatha was controlling him the entire time.

When they inevitability introduced the Fox crowd it's going to be a much bigger deal.
