basically now that academia is just the patent research group for private for profit corporations i got no respect to give, not even a single bit's worth of it for any of them for anything.

Go on, cure cancer even. As long as that's a private for profit medical research not put into the public domain, your efforts are entierly unworthy of any praise.

Article doesn't mention if it has to be tethered. (or I missed it?) I've looked into few underwater drones and the limiting factor is that it can only go like 30 yards away because of the line. The signal from radios don't really travel well underwater from what I understand.
