The frustrating part is that this doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to those who are still Trumpers in March 2021. McEnany's remarks are simply taken as instructions of belief, as narrative of the correct memory to have of the past. And all evidence to the contrary should simply be channel-changed away.

Wait, a lying liar that lies, lied? I'm shocked. She's a horrible person, why are we even giving her airtime?

Well, it would seem that this reporter did so to expose the lies for what they were. I think it was a great takedown.

I really don't like calling anyone the seaward, but I make an exception for this piece of work.  And I'd do it to her face if I could.

She was the propaganda mouth piece for a far right fascist cargo cult.  Millions of her fans thought #45 was going to walk out onto the white house balcony today and reveal he has been POTUS all along (this date has been moved because reasons).
Exposing the blatant lies is the vaccine we need right now against Q-idiocy.  Those who drank the kool-aid and like it can't be convinced unless they are open to it.  Thankfully most GOP politicians are either unlikeable like Ted Cruz or batshiat insane like Broebert or Greene.  I don't understand why Charlie Baker or Mitt Romney are still republicans and not independents or form a new party.

Tomi Lahren flat out said she was there and it was just "a few people" that got out of hand.  GOP is going balls-deep on gaslighting.

If Biden doesn't understand what he's dealing with and wastes even a moment trying to win over Republican votes for any significant legislation, his administration will have failed right out the gate.  They've got perhaps 14 months to get shiat done before the 2022 election forces everyone to put legislation on the backburner and fight for re-election.  The GOP will cry and plead and beg for compromise every second, making excuses the whole time until it is too late, then point fingers at Democrats for failing to help people.

I am still not sure Obama ever really realized how much capital he pissed away trying to work with those backstabbing hobgoblins.  But I'm cautiously optimistic Biden has learned the lesson, and doesn't intend to repeat the mistake.

I saw an interesting narrative that suggested that the most effective way of dealing with people who are utterly lost in Q is for their friends and family to persuade them, over time, that reality is more entertaining, engaging, and rewarding than the Q fantasy. I recognize that this won't work for the most lunatic portion, as their reality isn't better than fantasy, but the majority of the rest are reachable, with the right methods.

I'm perfectly thrilled to see those who actually act on Q instructions being arrested, sentenced, and having jailhouse epiphanies, but I think that most of the progress on that front is going to have to come from concerned people reeling people in the middle of the Q-bell-curve back in, so that the cult loses appeal to most of the rest as it withers.

I think that is fair, and I always believe in the right (and hope) for people to improve and learn, but I think it's important to note that there is no reason for the people reeling them in to be the minorities who they openly threaten. They both believe us less and, well, threaten us.  White men, historically, tend to be much more likely to listen to white men.

But the cult broadcasts nationally everyday* and has huge online presences, there to drip-feed poison into their psychoses.

Hugs and pic-a-nics ain't going to compete.

* - and why aren't large institutional investment and retirement funds being harassed daily for giving money to cablecos that refuse to remove seditous, violence-inducing propaganda organizations from their networks?

The voices of Fox and worse have to be reclassified as no different than the Daily Stormer, or we lose our democracy in 2022.

I realize it. Something needs to change - the merging of "fact" and "opinion" into "infotainment" is, hyperbole not intended, one of the most serious threats our country has faced in its history. We've basically internalized the sort of sedition-promoting, water-muddying propaganda that used to come from our international enemies, and piped it, wearing an American face, directly into American living rooms and workplaces, around the clock. It's a huge farking problem.

It honestly breaks my heart. I have several neighbors who mean a ton to me, we did distanced-driveway happy hours all summer and autumn long to keep sanity and morale intact, they're genuinely good people and great neighbors, without exception. But I know that all of them are exposed, every day, to coworkers who "just put Rush on the radio" as a sort of constant background noise. And it seeps in, and they're the kind of people who don't really follow political/national news otherwise, to provide them with any sort of rebuttals or fact-checking. They aren't Q-followers, but when I first mentioned Q to them, and then tried to explain the very very basics in response to their bafflement, they were horrifyingly receptive to the possibility - "Well, Epstein was a pedophile, so who's to say it's not at least partially true..."

Admittedly, I probably didn't go into enough of the batshiat detail to make my point, but I've definitely noticed a frequent hum of AM-radio talking points and themes when the conversation turns to current events. And I've had to significantly dial back the time I spend around them as a result, it just kills me.
