Ok, that had to be just to make a point.

How on gods green earth would you expect to be able to pawn professional level film equipment, plastered with the rightful owners name, and get away with it?

Sure, there are pawn shops that might take it, but it would be pretty damned obvious to anyone with eyes, and they'd have the cops there within an hour...

TFA didn't say what kind of camera it was.  It seems like these days the TV reporter is sent out by themselves with a small camera and a tripod.

San Francisco PD even decided that doing the paperwork for shoplifters that were caught by store security was too much work.  So now they won't arrest them.  I'm not sure what SFPD actually does, but it is definitely not law enforcement.

I've always wanted a professional grade camera so if I were the robber I'd be like "Cool camera!", but I'm also just paranoid enough to wonder if there's some secret serial number embedded in the video it shot to identify it - sort of like EXIF data.  I know you can delete those, but I'd still worry I might be missing something.

Also, if I ever committed such a crime I'd worry about getting busted for months afterwards if not years.  I'd hope I would feel some remorse too.

"

We need to adequately resource public safety agencies, adopt better strategies to stop repeat offenders and make clear that San Francisco is not a place that you can commit crimes and put people's lives at risk with impunity."

So, the SF government is as stupid as the criminals. It's a tie.

/"resource" is not a verb, except maybe in SF
/I verb words sometimes, but not like that. I have limits.

as long as there are dog treats that contain gluten, everything else is low priority.

seriously, the city's leadership has all but completely abandoned the citizens.  it's a libertarian paradise.  crime doesn't exist, in the sense that you can't report it.

im fairly certain london breed thought she would get harris's senate seat.  she was butthurt when it went to padilla.  she has done only one thing in office and that is to smash the boundaries of uselessness.  jesus christ almighty she's terrible.  the DA isn't any better.

Interesting chart.  For the most part, crimes involving people are down, while crimes where the criminals don't want people around are up.  With the exceptions of homicide and human trafficking.  Perhaps homicide is up because family members are going crazy and killing each other. As for human trafficking, no clue.

Thank You Black Jesus!: it's a libertarian paradise

Not even close.  You typically don't have the right to self defense in San Francisco.  The only time you can get away with self defense is if charging someone would look bad politically.  Plus, the number of fees and permits to do the tiniest bit of work is completely out of control.

Stop using a phrase you very clearly don't understand.

Funny, given you were the one to start with the hyperbole.

FTA:  "This incident is ridiculous and unacceptable, but not entirely unexpected in San Francisco in 2021," District 8 Supervisor Rafael Mandelman said via Twitter.

"We need to adequately resource public safety agencies to contain this kind of crime to Oakland and Richmond."

So... which is it?
