Come and take it!

The halfbaked phrase used by sub-morons who want to appear they have some interest in classical studies, or studies at all. Some rando psuedo-historian who probably culled it from a Tom Clancy novel, or even Jack Ryan fan-fic, spread it around to the rest of the idiots to put on the rear windows of the pick em up truck. Not to discount the phrase or its historical significance, the story of the Spartan 300 (and about 3000 other Greeks) at thermopylae is compelling history.

There is even some great articles out there about the phrase itself, how it was said, and what Leonidas was implying. My favorite is that it translates more as 'having come, take them'. Which is a much more compelling thought because there is challenge in it but also some mockery. 'You came all this way to ask us? If the Spartan army went through all the rigamarole that is entailed in moving an Army across a sea and the logistics and etc, we wouldn't come ask you to give up. We'd come kick your teeth in'.

Regardless of the veracity of the story or what was said and meant, it seems to lose its luster when echoed by paunchy white privileged pieces of walking human trash in regards to hanging on to a potato head doll for life as a political statement.
