Pujols hails from the Dominican Republic, a nation with a proud history of baseball talent and a slight history of birthday fraud among that talent.

hasn't his age been in question pretty much since he joined the cardinals?

Did the Angels think they were getting the 26 year old version?

God bless baseball though, clearly underperforming his contract, and will get paid every penny of it.

Still not the worst addition of an over the hill star the Angels have brought in. That spot would be for Mo Vaughn

Looking back on it, the Cardinals made the right decision on not extending Pujols for 10 years. Even then, I wouldn't have minded a six year extension, but Anaheim 1) needed a star player for relevance, and 2) needed to make a flashy signing.

I still think that switching leagues was a factor in him falling off, at least initially. The plantar fasciitis would always have been a problem, but it exaggerated even more in his 30s when he would be less dominant.

... speculates one executive

I'm reminded of Joe Simpson (Braves TV) getting roasted for suggesting Juan Soto looked a bit older than 19 when he debuted. As if it was purely based on racism and not the fact that this happens all the time.

Yeah, pretty sure El Duque was 55 in the late 90s...

No cars given about this, by my wife and I couldn't help but laugh when he was on Paula Deen's cooking show and she kept saying "The Poo-holes."

Back when he was a Cardinal, he had a restaurant at West Port in St Louis called Pujols 5. The moment we found out he was leaving, PooHoles restaurant became shiatHoles. It was closed almost immediately. We didn't take kindly to him leaving us. Though, we seemed to get over it. Later, on the field when he came to visit he would still get cheered.
