No.  It's *WRONG* and *RACIST* to call COVID-19 by the name it was originally given, the name of the city in which it originated, Wuhan, followed by the word "virus".   It's so racist, in fact, that the Fark filter translates it to COVID-19.

But it's perfectly OK to say "South African variant", "UK variant", "Nigerian variant", etc.  *TOTALLY* not racist at all.

As we all know, however, COVID is an acronym that stands for China's Offensive Viral Infectious Disease.

I like how variant E44k was titled "Eeek". That works for me.

/Can't go to work. Might catch Eeek.

Smart money says we're waiting for variants that make stinky flatulence a symptom before the name Donnie or Karen goes on.

You're being about as disingenuous as when a racist white person asks "but they call each other N*****, why can't I?"

Every last person reading this thread, including you, knows exactly why why we had to stop calling it its original name: Because the sociopathic racist then defiling the office of the Presidency was using the name to stoke the evil, moronic hatred of his racist supporters.

Yup. Ask my Japanese classmate who got beaten half to death for "looking Chinese" how he feels about that.
