Nonsense. As far as "push" goes use a bunch of electric industrial fans to "push" all the smog to Argentina

Could probably do this cheaper and easier by switching taxis to propane fuel.

For retrofitting existing taxis, probably true, but for a new vehicle taxi work loads are ideal for electric.

In Thailand they've all been refitted for CNG. Which means they have no trunk space for your luggage.

Weird, because usually you can fit some CNG tanks in place of the gasoline tank. You get a shorter range with that and with CNG in general, but you can make up for that if you have multiple fueling stations where tax drivers can easily refuel once or twice a day.

I wondered why not propane and then I realized the transport and distribution network might not be set up for it. Here in the USA we have widespread availability of propane as a heating fuel (at least where I live) so the market could easily supply the same for auto fuel.

It is a really easy conversion and Ford even offers a prep kid from the factory on certain engines. The V-10 Ford sold for use in school buses was an easy sell to use propane because smaller school districts didn't want the diesel engines.

You'd want those taxis to have engines designed from scratch for use with propane or methane fuels to avoid potential maintenance issues.  Some previous clean air programs that pushed gasoline engine conversions failed because the engines were failing prematurely.  Apparently the gasoline acted as a lubricant and a temperature moderator for the intake valves and they didn't like it when things changed.  And knowing what I know about direct injection, that's not something you'd want to do a swap without some engineering work either.

I think there were a lot of CNG taxis in Buenos Aires.

Direct injection means gasoline is not cooling or cleaning intake valves like port injection does. You could convert DI engines to propane easily.

London taxis used to have a luggage platform in place of the front passenger seat.
