Submitter - Nineteen states have laws prohibiting the possession of tobacco products if you're under 21. Those states include Utah and Oregon. The woman is 19 years old.

But I wanted to be outraged!

Anyway, there's no excuse for failing to put your kids in a carseat. Modern car seats are really good. Indiana Jones surviving a nuclear blast would have been plausible if he were locked in a child's carseat.

I mean, if the cocaine was in the backseat she couldn't be doing it while driving.

She needs to learn how to multitask better

If it was within reach of the child it explains the no restraints.  Nothing can restrain a coked up infant so it would be pointless anyway.

This reads exactly like the info I put on eHarmony under "What do you find attractive?"

That'll get you the death penalty in Oregon

19 with two kids and drugs in a car with no license.

This one has a lot of work to do to get her shiat together. I hope she gets there.

Yay for charge stacking?

Which charge carries the heaviest penalties?

Also, I get the strange feeling the child was unrestrained, but the coke was buckled up.

You don't want that spilling....shiates expensive

cocaine in backseat

Gets my vote for MEEOTY (Most Excruciating Euphemism Of The Year).

And Utah's law just changed last year, from 19 to 21.  (Given that the age of majority in the US is 18, I find all of the "prohibited if you're under 21" laws to be offensive.)

She might be a mess, but she'd be a heck of a lot of fun for a night or two when Grandma has the kids

Unrestrained child should mean she should get charged with everything humanly possible.  Tire pressure is one psi low.  Here's your ticket.  Not wearing shoes while driving.  Here's your ticket.  Jim you have another citation book I ran out?

Old enough to have a baby, not old enough to smoke.  Stupid laws are stupid, but they sure make people feel good.

That's a dumb law. If you're old enough to do cocaine then you're old enough to smoke cigarettes.

Too stupid and immature to make good choices concerning drug use, but making (and then neglecting) new human beings? A-O-f*cking-K!

Only two?

What's she waiting for?"

She's 19 and has an 8 year old? I hope that was a typo, because no 11 year old deserves that.

8 months old, not years.

That's a wonderful outlook on life you have there.

I take a different view and see a critical mass of a mess. I'm not sure there's coming back from that many life choices made wrong. First kid at 16, 2nd at 18. Cocaine, Marijuana, Tobacco, Alcohol, all likely used while pregnant. Texting while driving driving under the influence without a license, with both kids in the car, not using a child seat.

How exactly does anyone come back from that?

She may not have been using it at that time, but the child climbing around might have found it. I hope she never gets near those kids again.

It's Utah.  Trust me, 19 with two kids isn't odd. I'm 35 and one of my high school friends who is Mormon had her seventh kid.

Suspended license...

Utah is probably one of the shiathole states where your license is suspended for owing a fine or fee somewhere else in the gaping maw of government bureaucracy.

Isn't the point that she has two kids and isn't old enough to possess tobacco?

Probably the suspended license, because it often snowballs. The suspension is made longer - and then you get caught again, and the suspension is made longer, and then...

She refused the search, officer found a reason to conduct it anyway.  Maybe the search could be tossed if she gets a good lawyer.

Yeah that'sthe major problem here.     Bureaucracy turned me into a hot mess.

Suspended driving privileges are a symptom, not the disease itself.  I'm sure she gave less than a cold squirt of piss about whether her DL pops suspended on PDPS
