It's a good read but I am mostly just envious of those bikes... I prolly wouldn't go around the world, or even across America but I'd go pretty far to have those in the stable.

Endurance riding kind of boggles me, I guess it grew out of that Audax/ Randonneuring thing and got really out of hand and competitive but... WOW!

Does she pedal one foot at a time?

And how many steroids does she take?

Good for her. I would go about a mile then be like screw it.

Ultra endurance cycling is, to me, pretty impressive. Not only takes excellent physical fitness, excellent mental strength, but also excellent logistics and planning. There's a guy near me that raced in and won the Hoodoo 300 a few years ago, not to mention being on top of the leaderboards for a much of local Strava segments.

Personally, longest ride for me was a double metric (200k or 125 miles) but even that took good planning and strategy to work. Did it solo on my gravel bike, just an out and back course. Close second was a loop around the Salton Sea but I had company and an aero road bike with aerobars for that one.

That 10-52 cassette... damn!

I'd guess steroids would actually be a negative for ultra-endurance.  At some point the low body fat and extra strength you get from steroids is outweighed by all the extra calories you're burning.

There are enough people with random holes in their life that any competition will eventually be taken to its illogical extreme.

There are no pills or injections that help with the level of mental fortitude, perseverance, and toughness it takes to even simply complete these sorts of races, no less win them.

Wilcox is an incredible athlete. And she does it because she's driven to do it. God know there's no luxury lifestyle to be made from it. It's just not worth jacking up your body with drugs.

I became a big fan of hers from the video she made riding the Navad 1000. She didn't just beat the women's record...she beat the course record.

Guaranteed this comment wouldn't have been made if she was a male.
