They powered Mclaren to a bunch of wins in the eighties, though technically the engine was called a TAG engine, because they were the sponsor who paid Porsche to develop it.

The new engine regs should be interesting. The current ones are amazingly proscriptive. They dictate everything, engine bore and stroke, RPM limits, fuel flow rates, KERS system and so on. Their use for developing technology for road car use is limited because there is so little room for innovation. They tell you exactly how you have to do it.

But make the regs looser and you risk making it more expensive.

It would be great to see at least one more manufacturer in the sport.

They could even start their own team from scratch, but that is very expensive. First you have to pay all the other teams a few hundred million dollars to "compensate" them for having more competition....

At first, I thought they'd gotten a driver who'd get that 3-letter code.

This would be very cool if they make the e-fuel carbon neutral through its lifecycle.
