It's kind of astounding how much goes into every action shot in a Hollywood movie now.

From all these wires and cables and green felt backgrounds and noisy machines and people on the set, through a thousand CGI animators and editors and sound designers, into something cohesive and exciting. Just the logistics alone is staggering, it's amazing these movies get made at all, let alone come out as good as they are.

If that little bit is enough for you to call someone toxic, I wonder how milquetoast your friends are.

You consider that kind of joking around between friends toxic?  Wow.

Everyone who becomes successful needs someone who can whisper "You're only mortal" in their ear every now and then. Roman leaders had a slave do this.

And your description is just one example of how technology (CGI, computing, etc) creates loads of jobs. These jobs: wire/cable operators, CGI animators, editors, et al., would never have existed without the introduction of CGI into the movie-making biz. Sure, some wire/cable operators would be around: the 1977 Superman was done with wires and almost zero digital graphics. But because of the difficulty of doing things with real objects would affect the director's decision on how s/he would visualize a particular scene. So limited technology will limit the way the scene can be staged.

Look at all the Harry Potter Dudley's defending their shiatty friend.  I guess if people call out crappy behavior all of y'all know your next.

Question, why not just let little Harry sleep in the den? While ya'll so mean to the little guy?

Understanding and appreciating the complexity and teamwork required in these kind of artistic efforts - whether movie, video game, TV show, or what have you - has gone a long way in increasing my enjoyment of them. The faults and negatives just don't seem as important to focus on.

The logistics of how a Big Mac is made are just as complex, but it doesn't make it gourmet.
