Good thing those shorts have pockets like the 'pajama' pants I been buying... I need a lot of extra shiat when I'm exercising or sleeping.

Guaranteed.

I thought only seamen made the swish swish sound.

More like: "WHERE'S YOUR REFLECTIVE BELT! GIVE ME A THREE FOURTY ONE!!!!  YOU TOO SQUAD LEADER!"
(hands over 341s)
"Now go get your belt and get out there."

I'd love to see what the Air Force paid for what it looks like you could pick up at Old Navy for around $25.00 total.  I'm guessing a per-outfit cost north of $80.00, factoring in all the R&D, procurement administration, and administrative costs charged by the vendor.

So, gym shorts and a T shirt? I guess.

Still better than the previous jacket for seamen, which made a "sploosh-sploosh" sound.

You think that budget goes to anything other than contractors pockets?

Just the fact that there is an article about something that High School gym teachers mastered like 50 years ago show just how much waste there is in the DoD.

"With the 'notorious' track jacket, we've made updates to the fabric to minimize the noise it makes during workouts," said 2nd Lt. Maverick Wilhite, the office's program manager for PT gear.

Good lord they put a butter bar in charge of things.  Having been one back in the far mists of time I can verify that they can't find their ass with both hands.

Got to be an academy grad stuffed into that slot to have a nice resume/OER filler - "Was in charge of implementing uniform changes for the entire Air Force..."  I wonder who he's related to...

They should hire models for these. Give the boys a reason to join.

It probably cost a ridiculous amount of taxpayer dollars to come up with combo. Although I gotta say, making  the T shirt gray was pure genius.

With a name like "Maverick," he's almost surely a Colonel's child, and feels like he has a lot to live up to.

Funny thing is they managed to choose the plainest looking Airman in the whole service.  Attractiveness must be a secret category in their applications.

Air Force Uniform Office member 1st Lt. Avery Thomson wears the updated Air Force physical training (PT) uniform t-shirt and running shorts at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Feb. 25, 2021

Ohio was around freezing temps on that day. I do hope Lt Thompson had winter gear nearby.

Seriously. With how many women join the service these days, the odds of finding a hottie in a pool of young women people who go running everyday should be pretty good.

We had gray PT uniforms when I was in.  Originally PT uniform was yellow shorts with black trim, and a green army t-shirt.

But then we got these new fancy gray uniforms:

(not me)

The "ARMY" was some kind of ink that penetrated the fabric, and stayed and made it stiff and scratchy.  After *EVERY* PT session my nipples would be rubbed raw.  Yeah, I know.  Suck it up, Buttercup.  I did.

Has it been ten years already? Time to change the uniforms.

We didn't even have PT uniforms when I was in (AF). You showed up in your own gear. We did less PT back then but had far fewer overweight.

When I joined the Air Force, we had a perfectly functional grey PT uniform and then we switched to the ridiculous uniform with the short shorts you could hardly run in. I won't say it was a major reason why I got out, but it was a small factor.

The first result from Goog shows outdoor activity by a fellow with that name at the academy. And I am about 75% certain that the girl he's with in his LinkedIn profile is the model we're discussing. I leave further snooping to others.

Airmen will be issued pants, jacket, T-shirt and shorts. These items use fabrics that are "soft, quick drying, and have antimicrobial technology that helps with moisture and odor control," the release states.

Yeah. Probably some kind of polyester like what Nike Dryfit shirts are made of. I call BS on the oderless part.

Silky short shorts or nothing, you pansies.

I am remembering a golden/yellow tee shirt that said Air Force on it.  I don't remember the shorts.  I don't remember any physical exercise after basic. I gained ten pounds in basic.  I gained another ten pounds in tech school, mostly from eating pie while waiting for my roommate Frank who was an INCREDIBLY slow eater. Jesus, Frank, hurray up!

The material that made that woosh sound had a sort of trash bag feel to it. The shirt and a right sized jacket aren't too bad, but the shorts and sweatpants were baggy and never fit right.
