When giant corporations have less disdain for the public than your state government, you might have a problem.

Centuries of science and medicine are quite beyond the intellect of this feeble excuse of a governor.
But, who cares, we are feeding/seducing partisans here.

That's how we've been existing in Florida. Well, at least Orange County.  I hear once you get out of this county it's "do whatever you want."

The businesses have picked up the slack.  I had a hard time getting a reservation for 10 for a repast dinner after my mom passed, even outside.

Not great but it's something.

AL has had a mandate for most of the pandemic, so I didn't know anything other than that reality for almost a year...until I found myself in the rural FL panhandle, walking into a Zaxby's where not one of the other 30+ patrons had a mask on. I went back out and through the drive-thru.

I was a "mask denier denier" for almost a year until I saw that. There really are huge swaths of people who just threw the memo away. I thought the media pictures of Sturgis (etc) were just weird outliers.

I asked my friend, who works at a giant corporation downtown (Houston), this morning if they still had to wear a mask at work and they told me that nothing has changed in the office - masks still required.  They said their HR follows what the CDC says and not our idiot Gov.  And this is at a very right-wing company, mind you.

Companies don't want their production plans getting screwed up because their workers are sick.  The state doesn't really care if they get sick or not.

Greg Abbott kills Texans.

Next up from Governor Dipshiat: order banning private business from requiring masks.

Abbot's biggest donors must be chain restaurant owners.

I'll get the lights, folks.

Move along.

Thread over.

Greg Abbott should be arrested for attempted mass murder.

Abbott is desperate to make Texans forget they went 3 days with no electricity.

And that their bills will go up in the future to pay for excess charges for electricity.

The tool made it a point to announce this on Texas Independence Day, damned be the consequences.

There was a lot of local news coverage of parents wanting schools to fully open.  Some schools fully opened with the option of kids being able to continue to take classes on line.  The classes are about 1/3 full.  It turns out the parents DEMANDING that schools reopen were just louder than parents who were comfortable with their children learning from home.

The situation is similar with mask mandates and social distancing.  Most people don't mind them.  The people who see them as an infringement on their freedum are just louder.

That and it comes out of their profits when they get sued. When government gets sued, we pay.

I disagree here. Until it finally looked like states were really serious about mask mandates voluntary participation in a lot of places was very low.

Abbot:  it should be up to people and businesses to do the right thing.
Businesses:  ok we will keep doing what we are doing

The company's lawyers and their liability insurance likely say to follow the CDC, too. Even a company led by mask-refusers would be taking a huge risk to change policy now.

Spock to GOP-bot:   Regulations for businesses are not allowed.  Businesses can control their employees as they please.   You are not required to wear a mask, in complete contradiction to object scientific evidence because personal freedoms, but businesses, on which there are no regulations, can order you to wear a mask.....
