Finally figured out Amazon doesn't have to do jack shiat for anyone, if they don't want to do it.

Iran and NK can get on the Internet.  I'm sure these asshats can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and figure it out.

Rebekkah wouldn't pay any more money for this lost cause case, I guess.

It was all about attention whoring.  They never intended to go through with it.

I'm sure they knew that from the beginning.  This whole thing was just for them to save face and look like heroes fighting against Big Tech™ in the eyes of their customers.

I don't think they've ever openly said who their customers are though right?  Its certainly not the rubes they convinced to populate their site with their own drivers licenses tied to their deepest most hateful dialogs.

Parler is Mercer's?  You'd think they'd have some computer sense when it comes to harvesting data.  Maybe a deal with the DSM-5 for research and do some good for diagnosis of broken, anti-social, anti-democratic behaviors.

They also probably figured out that Amazon has more lawyers than some small countries have citizens.

Harry Wagstaff: Didn't they find a new host?

Yup. Based in Columbus, Ohio and thus subject to the same federal liabilities that Amazon was protecting themselves from.

Considering most of the lawsuit was them complaining Twitter didn't get removed "even though they're worse", despite the fact that Twitter's content isn't even farking hosted by Amazon, yeah it was complete horseshiat to grift the rubes.

Yeah, Epik (the folks who also host the far-right nutball gab and others) host them now.

I saw that they filed a similar case in Washington state court, however, citing restraint of trade law (??).  Fat lady hasn't sung yet.

I don't know, man. I've been watching this all through CourtListener and I think it's a distinct possibility that the people behind Parler really are that stupid. It wouldn't surprise me if this was a total money pit for Mercer and Don Oingoboingo despite the grift.

John Matze is definitely getting an... education.

Probably.

I was wondering. Is it pronounced like the front room of a house or do they use the French pronunciation for, "to speak"?

My understanding is Amazon claimed it was a violation to there deeply held religious beliefs.....which clearly states they believe with all their hearts that profits are god.

Can't force them to go against their god, right GQP?

Amazon revealed more than 100 violent threats the company had flagged to Parler in the weeks leading up to its takedown, including one that told Jack Dorsey, "you will die a bloody death." Parler had refused to moderate the content, citing its free speech policy.

link goes to examples like:

"After the firing squads are done with the politicians the teachers are next."

That, and Amazon can hire a boutique firm to litigate this until the heat death of the universe, with only a rounding error in the bottom line.

Why do they want to kill teachers? They're hard working, underpaid and probably the only people in the world who care about kids almost as much as their parents do.

It's hard to show harm when Parler found a replacement host so quickly. Plus, Amazon does have a say. So, these days there's a lot of lawyers making money on doomed litigation..

Do they have all the fancy APIs Amazon provides? IIRC they depended heavily on the Amazon infrastructure.

And they just refiled in Washington state.
