I guess one good thing about the Caps/Bruins being a national broadcast, no worries about having to listen to Jack Edwards...

Mike Milbury thinks Jack Edwards is totally impartial and isn't a total douchenozzle

/unfortunately, I just looked and we will be saying "SUP" during the Caps-B's game

OK, I like Jack Edwards, yes, but even I questioned why Milbury was on national broadcasts after calling Ovechkin 'eurotrash'. Milbury can be amusing, but he should not be doing hockey analysis on national TV.

And of course Jack Edwards is a homer for the Bruins - he does play-by-play for them! In their home market!

Jack Edwards does not cheer from the broadcast booth as badly as Hawk Harrelson did, but he's close.

... and be damn near accurate, that's a problem.

To follow up, Edwards is certainly an enthusiastic supporter of the Bruins. On the surface, there is nothing wrong with that. However, when the play-by-play guy can describe similar actions by members of opposing teams with absolutely no objectivity, as a viewer who is not a Bruins' fan, it strikes me as unprofessional.

But how much of his broadcast career happened when the entire country could watch any game from anywhere on TV or on the Internet? I mean, Hawk had games on WGN so the whole country could watch his buffoonery.

Tommy was the National color commentator for CBS for four years in the 80's. During one of the greatest playoff runs for the C's.

He got some exposure, ha ha.

I, also, do not remember Mr. Heinshon as a broadcaster. Not being a basketball fan my account for some of that.
But it's different when the "color man" is over the top in his praise or disdain for the players/actions in the game. The play-by-play guy, on the other hand, has to retain a modicum of impartiality, especially on national broadcasts.

Nowadays, since "local" broadcasts are available to anyone anywhere, it's very apparent when you've got a homer in the booth. Personally, I prefer the ones that don't openly cheer for their employer's team.
