It didn't help that there was almost nothing produced this year. It was pretty mu ch The Mandalorean and a lot of formerly great actors embarrassing themselves. DeNiro, really?

If I had a $60 million budget for a glorified Zoom meeting, I'd splurge on the "Coastal Breeze" background to really kick out the jams.

Great editing on this story. Starts off with key points in article. Then introduction to article and 3 paragraphs repeating said key points.

The production looked like a public access channel doing a zoom high school talent show.  It was embarrassing.

Apparently NBC paid 60 million bucks to air that shiatshow for the next few years. That's some boomer bullshiat right there.

Maybe celebrity circle jerks aren't as popular as they used to be.

...you're saying this to the crowd that practically invented the "tl;dr" meme, you know.

Awards shows have degraded into forums for self-entitled rich people to virtue signal and to tell us what to think.  The problem is that most of us don't give a fark what Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and all the rest think about anything. Nor should we. The fact that they can make us laugh doesn't give them any heightened knowledge and wisdom regarding any topic whatsoever.  This is why I no longer watch them.

Who cares what celebrities think? Now let's let the insane game show host run a major political party

Too true.  Both are dumb ideas.

If some of these "celebrities" were so offended and angry...why did they accept the nomination and award?

This. I was going to say that maybe the general public is catching on that awards shows are just a tax write off for people that don't need write offs. As are most "charity" galas, and most non-profits.

Sunday's broadcast was marred by technical hiccups and overshadowed by scandal, as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which presents the awards, has been under heavy fire for its lack of Black voters and reports of corruption.
Please, PLEASE tell me this isn't the reason they think nobody watched...
"Hey Martha, the Golden Globes is on..."
"No way, Henry. Not enough black representation among their voters. Put on reruns of the Office."
