I saw S-K a few months before the shutdown. They've still got it.

When I first saw Portlandia I was shocked at how funny CB was, having only known her from Sleater-Kinney.

Wow, St Vincent's hair is soooooo thin!  She should get into Death Metal/Black Metal.  She's got the hair for it!

After shunning Janet Weiss and making her quit their last album was an embarassing attempt at staying young and relevant.

"Let's make a movie about ourselves making a movie about ourselves making a movie about ourselves."

Ego much?
Didn't Paris Hilton already do something similar a decade or two ago?

I saw St. Vincent live at the Northstar in Philly VERY early on in her career. She was opening for Midlake who were on their Van Occupanther tour. She brought her own keyboard out, and this heavy grade poster board with her name in Christmas lights spelled out on it. It kept falling over while she set up, and then fell a couple times when she was playing. I felt so bad for her, and I really wanted to like her, but I've never been able to get into her stuff. I saw her setup and I was thinking "please have a Tori Amos virtuoso vibe" but... sadly no.

That's just me though. Glad she's put together a successful career.

It sounded like a St. Vincent B-side collection.  And I really like St. Vincent, but...yeah.

Recent albums from bands I liked in the 90s are pretty low on my radar.

"and St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark) as exaggerated versions of themselves."

How is that even possible?

It is sobering just how unoriginal my thoughts are. Dammit.

Carrie also finished the screenplay for the Brit miniseries/movie Lost in Austen.   She took over the duties after Nora Ephron died.   She's a busy gal.    It was a sad day for me when Janet left S-K.
