Suede are one of the greatest bands ever to walk the Earth.

Billy Liar: Benalto: Suede seemed to me the most British of Britpop bands so you won't find as much fans of them in the States as the other big ones (Pulp, Blur, Rutles Oasis).

Yet still forced to alter their name for American releases.  Nirvana, however, took the name of a working British band and was not.

Being fair, Geffen paid the original Nirvana big bucks in order to use the name in the UK.

Anyone care to disagree? Anyone? Butler?

While I prefer Blur and Pulp, Suede is a pretty great band. Their albums are consistently good to great, and they've continued putting out good music for nigh on 30 years, which is impressive.

If you can get past the hyper-Bowie-esque vocals of Bret Anderson, they are pretty good. They never made a dent in the states.

A lot of people really like Butler's guitar work, and rightly so, but my favorite album of theirs is Coming Up, which is their first without him I think.

Fun fact: Ricky Gervais was once their manager.
