Who posted the mushroom catsup recipe last week? Thank you, whoever it was, gonna make some later.

You can also take a shiat on a hot dog, buy why would you?

Hot dogs are fine with ketchup.  Actual sausage (bratwurst, kielbasa, etc) needs mustard if anything.

Breakfast sausage gets maple syrup.

Haven't used ketchup in probably 15 years.
I lived in a town with a factory.

Nasty smells. Turned me off of that stuff forever.

Hot dog snobbery only applies to farting mustard bottles (unless you're sharing a special moment with your grandson - before buzzkill Nani comes along & confiscates the condiments).

It's photogenic, but the sausage to bun ratio seems way off. Seems like the sausage is just too small for all the rest.

ugh, I tried GIS to see what "real" photos of what the thing looks like. it's... just as bad, if not worse.

and I love all of:
- hotdogs
- wack-a-mole
- mayo
- tomato / pico / etc.

but just ew no, agreed, the ratios of everything there are way off.

I like ketchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, and onions on my hot dogs. I had no idea this enraged some people until I was in my 30s.

For actual sausages, it's just mustard and sauerkraut. That shiat is perfect.

I grew up eating New York dirty water street cart dogs. If I criticize anyone who puts anything on their dog whether it be kraut or hobo cum, I would be a hypocrite.

otherwise i have no use for it

but it's in my fridge for

Mustard ruins a hot dog. The hot dog has a weak bland taste. So does the bun. The mustard overpowers it. All you taste is mustard. Ketchup aka cat-soup is the way to go.

So there
:)

A General Disdain For All Of Humanity: Why is ok to put tomatoes on a hot dog, but not ketchup?

There's a general consensus among food snobs that ketchup is horrible.  IDGAF.  The spicy ketchup available at Whataburger was actually very good on fries and burgers.  For bratwurst, though, I prefer Srihacha and mustard.  YMMV.  EPID.  And a couple of years back, a cow-orker in the "food" work IM said he thought broccoli and cheese soup might make a good topping for bratwurst.  I did an experiment:

...it was OK, not great, would probably not do again.

It doesn't sound like they are trying to make ketchup per se. They should try re-marketing it. IMO, '57' has usurped ketchup's role as the most versatile condiment (by Heinz anyway). I don't know if I've put it on hotdogs but I'm sure it would be fine.

Of course you can put ketchup on a hot dog, as long as you don't plan to eat it.

?  The only critters that suffered were the cows and pigs committed to the bratwurst, so I don't think that'd fly in the Hague.

At most one beer.  I quit smoking things in 2006.

It only works on vegetarian brats, and only for people who would eat those in the first place.

I offer for your consideration the berner wurstel.  Two cheese dogs wrapped in bacon with a mess of fries.

Fark user imageView Full Size

I was going to use it as an acceptable example of ketchup on a dog, based on its use on the fries and inevitable cross over, but as you can see, the use of mustard is feasible.

I'd agree with you if we were talking about Grey Poupon or another seedy or spicier mustard, but French's works fine. In the before times, my lunch was a dog with kraut and siracha with a knish and mustard. It's a good thing I walked two miles to my subway stop or I'd be obese.

Hot dog with ketchup and finely diced onions is a simple, yet beautiful thing. Having slung dozens of hot dogs nightly to drunks during my convenience store days, I think I've tried just about every combination.

A while back I saw a video of people in Chicago trying "Chicago Hotdog sauce" on their hotdogs.  They all loved it, even the guy who took one bite and said, "That's ketchup!"

2021-03-01 10:05:58 PM
This is going to be unpopular....regular hot dog, Miracle Whip, chopped onions, and sweet relish. I put spicy mustard on bratwurst.

2021-03-01 10:08:00 PM
No subby. Unless it's spicy or hot ketchup it's probably gonna be wrong if you're not a child.

And the people saying mayo and broccoli soup need to seriously rethink their lives and their own damnation. Reality will create a God if you don't believe in a God just to sentence you to damnation for that kinda stuff.

Mix your leftover bacon grease with your favorite syrup.

Ketchup for the kids table, stone ground mustard for the grown ups, stone ground plus yellow plus a spoon of horseradish for me. And caramelized onions and peppers.

The end.
