Love the progression.

We're an inclusive company. Hey, Republicans - you have money, stay with us!

Hyatt: not Nazis, but #1 with Nazis.

That's not A Nazi symbol.

We asked the people who put it there if that was a Nazi symbol and they said no. So... We're good, right?

We don't know nuthin' 'bout no Nazis

Look - it was all we could do to deal with the maskholery. Have you any idea what these people are like?

STOP CALLING US NAZIS! Just because we hosted A Nazi rally does not make us Nazis!

Our lawyers worked with our PR people and drafted this statement. This cures everything.

Makes you wonder how much longer these big, international companies are going to want to be associated with Conservative functions like this.

Yeah, the Hyatt chains are down my list of places to stay.

Hilton and then Marriott brands, then Choice Hotels in smaller towns.

Their Hyatt Place brand has a couple of locations that are good for my use. The "big" Hyatts are usually only if I am attending a meeting there

Especially considering that it's often difficult to get some people (Donny) to pay for the use of their facilities...

"politically charged conference"

In a story about a meeting full of racists saying racist things, the word "racist" wasn't used once.

But Forbes wants everyone to know that Hyatt had to disavow the "politically charged" nature of the gathering, which may as well have had hoods and burning crosses.

But without using the word "racist." People had a problem with the "politically charged" stuff.

Very brave of you, Forbes, to report on the "politically charged" stuff at the conference. So brave.

The weird thing is Hyatt = Pritzkers. Democratic governor of Illinois, Democratic Secretary of Commerce, big fundraisers, noted not-Nazis. This whole thing is perplexing.

I gotta get me an MBA or something so I can get hired on at these companies and get paid to tell them they're idiots.

Oh, you want to rent your space to CPAC? You're an idiot. Not only are they Nazis, but they're Nazis who will refuse to wear masks during a pandemic. These are not people who are going to pay their bills without quibbling. They suckle Trump's flabby man titty every chance they get, and along with untrammeled racist, they also picked up a complete inability to abide by contractual agreements. So, you'll be out the money you would have been paid, you'll be out the physical damages these morons are going to inflict on your property, you'll lose staff due to your unwillingness to confront their racism not to mention the COVID spreading these plague rats are going to do, and you'll be out buckets of money when the people who aren't racist asshats decide they'd rather not stay at racist asshat central.

There is no upside to taking money from these insurrectionists and seditionists. None. And I, the last person on the list of "Has Deep Insight Into How To Make Gobs Of Money Off The Rich," could have told you that without about .05 seconds of review.

After the handful of run-ins the Grand Hyatt in DC had with Trumpers over the past two months I'm amazed there hasn't been a directive from the corporate office. No more events, no more association. They want to stay there, they pay full rate for a room, but no conference space, nothing to otherwise indicate any sort of tacit acceptance by the chain.

Hell, Pritzker is at least sort of a Democrat.

claiming someone who stayed in a room in a hyatt had a nazi symbol somewhere on his bag or a tattoo or something and they didnt know is one thing.

this crew built a giant stage in the shape of a nazi symbol.  then stood on it for hours preaching how our elections are fake.  thats a wee bit harder to claim you had no knowledge it was going on.

I think it's still not blatantly obvious to a large portion of non-Republicans that Republicans have gone off the deep end. They don't think anything of letting them have their convention at their hotel because, hey, they're one of the 2 major political parties. Totally mainstream

"Infamous symbol of Nazis"

I literally didn't know of this nazi symbol until  just nos. lt's close but clearly not the same.

I'm having flashbacks to when McCain was accused of using a hate speech (and he wasn't) as their call while Obama was literally using the Soviet Communist "Forward" mantra when they sent a shiat ton of people to their deaths in the gulags.

"Hyatt's second news release circled back to the stage design controversy in what sounded like venue host's remorse. "Had we initially recognized the potential connections to hate symbolism, we would have proactively addressed it prior to commencement of the event," said Hyatt. "Unfortunately, this became clear to us only after the event kicked off."

That stage could have been converted to something more functional and a lot less nazi in under four hours.

(I've helped build a thousand convention stages. That was not a "stock" configuration.)

Aren't these things usually held at a Gaylord? Because nothing says "Gaylord" like CPAC.

2021-03-01 1:10:24 PM
CPAC is the equivalent of my least favorite Capt. Crunch cereal variation: "OOPS, ALL NAZIS"

At least now their new slogan "Seek Hyatt!" makes a little more sense

How many of those stages where built for social distancing for a pandemic? I feel like it was done because they know their members are morons so let's put in some gaps and can't share space easily and oops now we have Nazis.

See, if the National Association of Zoo Inspectors said that, it would make sense. Context is important and CPAC has been Nazi-ing up for a while.

I hear what you are saying but this still all sounds farking stupid. If they were going to use a a nazi symbol why wouldn't they use it instead of something that almost looks like it. Or is the ACA actually the nazi eagle too?

A stage that somewhat resembles an obscure symbol?  Yeah, it's so obvious that they openly signaling their allegiance the Nazi ideology, which is the opposite of their actual policy slate.  What's next, are you going to tell me about their secret UFO fleet and their dealings with the Grays?

Add it to the litany of other "coincidental" Republican symbolism too.

Gee, for a hate filled white supremacy group they sure have a lot of accidental throwbacks to the Nazis. I wonder why.

Intrepid00: "Infamous symbol of Nazis"

I literally didn't know of this nazi symbol until  just nos. lt's close but clearly not the same.

I'm having flashbacks to when McCain was accused of using a hate speech (and he wasn't) as their call while Obama was literally using the Soviet Communist "Forward" mantra when they sent a shiat ton of people to their deaths in the gulags.

That stage set was designed.  This isn't a case where an innocuous design was used to maximize available space.  The camera angle was chosen for a reason. I'm pretty centrist when it comes to a lot of this bullshiat Dems/Reps, but that soundstage and image seems pretty well engineered.  Was it by Rep design and known as such, or just the group sponsoring trying to "subtlety " put up their images is a fair debate.  But someone knew what they were doing and did it deliberately.   Who that who is a good question.

Anyone remember Skokie, Illinois?  Or Crystallnacht?  Remember, Hitler was elected (damn, just Godwinned myself). Or Burke?  "https://www.openculture.com/2016/03/edmund-burkeon-in-action.html "
