Bslim: Who?

Mary Anne Hawkins.  It's right there in the headline.  Are you illiterate?

What an amazing person, never heard of her before but now I'm happy I did. Something about the true watermen/women fascinates me, people like her and Eddie Aikau. I love the water but growing up in Southern AZ I rarely got to actually swim in the ocean.

I am a water baby and swim whenever I can. Growing up in Wisconsin, surfing was not a thing but swimming in lakes and rivers (when they weren't frozen over) as well as canoeing and kayaking keeps me in and on the water.

Teaching little kids to not be afraid of the water and how to swim is one of the best proactive ways to save lives when you live around water. Good job Ms, Hawkins. They don't have to be lifetime lovers of the water, they just need to know how to not panic.
