Makes me want to install an opressive regime.

Fanfic writers will pay for their crimes! Viva la Revolucion!

Excellent, and just when all the fundies bailed out of the other thread, we have a new one to lure them in.
2002-02-10 05:43:39 AM
O crap. Here we go again, I think Fark deserves segregation. AlphaFark and GammaFark... Separated along a fundamental line of behaviour-blocking. Christian, Muslim, Judeic, Bleeding Heart Liberals, Ultra-Conservatives, Hippies, Greenies, Socialists, Communists, etc. go into the pop-up ridden flamebait soup that is GammaFark.

I and a few others will remain in AlphaFark, basking in the light of my own egocentrism, enjoying my own submissions, and laughing at my own comments.

...after typing all that it does not sound like such a great idea after all...

eh, I'll sleep on it.
2002-02-10 05:46:08 AM
I don't believe in religion of any sort, yet I believe every one of these authors is going to hell
2002-02-10 05:46:42 AM
Sleep is for the weak Groman.

I don't have any problem with Christianity. It's the farking Christians what bother me.

Religion and theology notwithstanding, Dr_Satan is right. If there is no hell, maybe we should make one just for these folks.

"Short story of Raphael and his encounter with the demon Asmodeus, and the true nature of Angelic horror. *Slash implications, heavy Raphael abuse*

Now, I think I shall go shove red hot icepicks into each eye.

You should kill your kid to prevent this.

What do Guns N Roses and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have to do with the Bible?

(Thank you! Thank you! I'm here all week! And remember, the 7 and 9 o'clock shows are completely different! Thank you!)

This is just the 'R' section. Head for the 'NC-17' section for more kicks.

Too many bible links sheesh
2002-02-10 06:54:21 AM
Please, for God's sake no more fan fiction links. The world is depressing enough as it is without these ultra-losers getting mentioned on Fark.
2002-02-10 07:45:02 AM

Happy "Sabbath".

Simply reading the headlines made me wish for a hot bath...

I'd like to know who ever, EVER fantasized about Jesus and Judas... and then stab them to death.

I'm gonna wash my eyes with lava, now.

Fark FAN FICTION writers needed!
2002-02-10 10:04:46 AM
If I never saw or heard the words fan fiction ever again in my entire life, I would die a happy man.
2002-02-10 10:05:29 AM
P.S. Fark shoulf filter the words fan fiction to say b00bies.
2002-02-10 10:10:20 AM
I thought the whole Bible was already fan fiction
2002-02-10 10:26:29 AM
Fark BOOBIES writers needed!
2002-02-10 10:27:57 AM
I can't take credit for this...

Go into a bookstore, preferably a Christian bookstore, and start looking around. Take several minutes, and look increasingly disconcerted as time passes. After a while, go seek out an employee and confusedly ask where the Bible is. When they point it out, exclaim, "Sorry, I was looking in the Fiction section."
2002-02-10 10:54:02 AM
Don't tell capalert!
2002-02-10 11:17:02 AM
Excuse me, Snooker, but we fanfic writers are NOT losers. We're just really creative people who love to write. I write as a hobby. Admit it, writing fanfic on a show, for example, is like writing the episode you wish the show's writers would have done.

FYI, I have a family and a high-paying job. Writing is something I do for kicks, and to unwind. That's not all I do. I play the flute, sometimes I draw, and other times I work on my web pages.
2002-02-10 11:28:58 AM
Alexandra, there's a line between writing your own Pokemon episode where Ash catches Pikachu, and writing your own Pokemon episode in which Ash sodomizes Pikachu.
2002-02-10 11:37:32 AM
Bisifiniti: True. I don't cross that line (as in I don't write yaoi). I do write a few NC17-rated stories here and there but the characters involved are married to each other.

I've been writing little stories since the age of 5 and I started actually writing fanfic in the 11th grade. :)
2002-02-10 11:47:43 AM
NC-17 Bible Fan Fiction Stories? You've got to be kidding me. This reminds me of the Bill Mahr show when he talked about how Rock and Roll shouldn't be Christian-nized. When someone mentioned that it's not the method used, but the message, he responded with

"Alright, then I have an idea. Christian Porn."

It looks like these writers already had it under control.
2002-02-10 11:56:49 AM
Did anyone else see this title and the author ?
"Just You and I" by "A Bad Ass Suicidal Frog Called Bob".
2002-02-10 12:02:02 PM
"Why God made sodomy a sin."

Best story ever. LOL. It makes no sense!
2002-02-10 12:15:44 PM
Bible, fiction, Bible, fiction. Finally it's making sense.
2002-02-10 12:58:29 PM
Bible fanfiction
Oh cool, The Book of Mormon online?
2002-02-10 01:01:52 PM
I say let people believe whatever they want to believe. You don't have to believe it or even listen to them(you closed-minded egotistical hypocrit).
2002-02-10 01:05:02 PM
People spend time writing this stuff?
2002-02-10 02:46:24 PM
Alexandra: Sorry to spoil it for you, dear, but fan-fiction writers really are losers. The whole idea of fanfic -- reinterpreting/adding on to existing, usually geek- and child-centric works like Sailor Moon and Animaniacs just screams pathetic, and the astounding volume of such garbage trumps even that of cesspools like 'furry'.

The thing that clinches it for me, however, is what happens when people outgrow fanfic. They don't just stop; oh no, that would be too mature. Rather, they wallow into a cycle of false pretention and subtextual self-hatred, spending as much time mocking present fanfic writers and churning out 'hilarious' 'joke' fan-fics (like this whole Bible thing) as they wasted on serious attempts in the past. All of which says 'LOSER'.

Dear Fan-Fiction.net:

Thanks ever so much. I'll be taking the line "Shenzi gives me a boner" to my grave.
2002-02-10 03:16:18 PM
Hey now, I do fanfic as a hobby. I use to to improve my writing skills, because one day I may want to try to be published--using my OWN characters of course.

FYI I write Zelda fanfic. Been writing it since I was a junior in high school. It's fun taking those characters and putting them in situations you dream up.

And kindly define "loser."
2002-02-10 03:26:26 PM
FranceSurrenders, you've managed to be here a whole 4 days and already your words demonstrate untold potential for stupidity and trolling for months to come.

I recommend that you think about what you mean to say for a little bit before going off and posting it. It really might help. First off, you label one entire of group of people losers, for really no other reason than on the basis that you don't enjoy either writing or reading it. Maybe you haven't heard, but there are literally thousands of ways to express yourself creatively, and no one expects you to enjoy all of them. But at least show a little respect and tolerance for others.

The second thing you really failed to consider is that fan-fiction is a bit broader than you think. Have you ever been to a bookstore? Ever notice all those novels using the characters from such series as Star Trek, Star Wars, X-Files, etc etc ad nausem? What do you think those are, exactly? They are fan-fiction at the next level, a published and complete novel involving characters from the movie, show, or comic. You make label and insult these however you like, but the bottom line is that people earn good money and can make a living basically just writing fan-fiction about the characters they love.

Furthermore, if you look at it a little deeper, what is any remake or sequel if not fan-fiction. Unless the same writer wrote all the scripts (which often occurs in sequels but not very often in remakes) it is someone else who enjoyed the characters in the original so much that they wanted to do it again with their own vision.

For example, take the whole Batman universe. There have been many incarnations of Batman, including in movies, animation, live action tv shows, and Comic books. All of it stems from one person (or group of people's) idea, which is taken and reshaped by others. The writer of the movie is different from the writer of the comics who is different from the writers of the cartoon show that is playing now. Essentially, it is Fan-fiction.

Which brings me to one final question for you to ponder. If you knew that they were bringing your favorite character from a book (or tv, movies, comics, whatever) back in a new series, who would you rather have as the writing team? A group of people who were fans of the original characters, or a group of people who had no knowledge, and were just there to get ratings and sell merchandise? Maybe you see fan-fiction in a different light, but hopefully you have gained something from this, and can understand and respect where they come from, and how it actually benefits you.

Or else you could exist soley as a troll, amsuing yourself at the way you insult others you don't know. You still have a chance to make a good impression, its really up to you.
2002-02-10 03:40:30 PM
Well said, Theseus.
2002-02-10 03:49:20 PM
Old news.
2002-02-10 04:04:51 PM

I'd have to say this is the best (worst?) of the bunch.
2002-02-10 04:27:23 PM
who's posting this shiat? can't someone do something about this?
2002-02-10 04:49:34 PM
Ouch: Whew, thought it was one of MINE! (95% of mine are in the Zelda section. I don't see how you can do Bible fanfic.)

Theseus: Thanks! :) Fanfic writing keeps me sane (such that it is). It's like I have all these ideas going on in my head and if I don't write it down I go nuts! I also converse online with other fanfic writers and we're like a little community online. :)
2002-02-10 04:55:30 PM
As if Fanfic writers weren't nutty enough.. but seriously, how lame. Were are the X-Files/Highlander/Star Wars/Star Trek/ etc crossovers?

All I see are testimonies, angst ridden denouncements, and gay stories. At least come up with something mildly entertaining...

And what's with the "slashes"?
2002-02-10 05:12:17 PM
Ouroborus beat me to it, but it does deserve repeating.
The bible itself is fanfiction.Bunch of guys took earlier stories written by the Babylonians, Egyptians, Assyrians, Sumerians, and embellished on the themes. Wild and fantastical stories of magic tricks and miracles, angels and monsters. Changed the character names of Mithras, Osiris, Asa, Bhudda, etc,to Jesus.
2002-02-10 05:50:35 PM
I'd like to read a homoerotic batman fan fiction.
2002-02-10 06:04:10 PM
Excuse me, Snooker, but we fanfic writers are NOT losers. We're just really creative people who love to write.

If you were all that creative, losers, you would write something original instead of writing something based on someone else's copyrighted work.

Go back to the basement until dinner time. Mom will call you when its ready.
2002-02-10 06:11:34 PM
I used to write fanfic and I'm not a loser. In fact, it was a great way for a new writer to get practice. You have established characters so you do not have to worry about character development. In fact, I'm proud to say I've won an award or two for my fanfic.

I got tired of the fandom scene though and figured that my personal creations were much more interesting and lucrative.

As much as I can respect slash fiction and erotica, there are some places I just don't wanna go...this being one of them. Oh well...I guess to each his own...I don't wanna write erotica invovling Mary Magdalene and the twelve apostles and not everybody wants to write dark fantasy.

Usually a person who knocks something does so because a. they are jealous that they can't do it or b. is ashammed of something in themselves

But hey, that's just my two sou.
2002-02-10 06:12:47 PM

most fanfic writers who are good move on to fiction.

If you can be oh so creative, why don't you try writing for a career???
2002-02-10 06:16:11 PM
First off, you label one entire of group of people losers, for really no other reason than on the basis that you don't enjoy either writing or reading it.
