Integrity?  Unlikely.

Cold feet?  Perhaps.

But what are they going to do about it?  Impeach and remove him for the things they refused to admit were true when the confirmed him?

Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh appears to have found something that some people thought he never had:

Receipts for how he paid off his debts?

Maybe Brett was just hungover from the serious rager over at Donkey Dong Doug's place.

Not having to assuage a rabid death cult mob in order to win reelection may have something to do with it.

Makes me wonder how the impeachments would have gone if a third or a half of the GOP Senators were in their final term thanks to term limits.

Thomas said something?  How embarrassing.

If he had integrity he would have withdrawn for trying to rape that girl

Fta: "Some see a connection between Kavanaugh's change of heart Monday and the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol that was fueled by Trump's election disinformation."

Ya think?

Doesn't make him any less rapey.

Justice Brewsky doesn't want to deal with obvious pandering bullshiat with little to gain? Huh.

The optimist in me would like to think so.

"Why won't you stay bought?" is probably not the best thing to point out to a sitting justice, but please proceed.

Integrity probably is the correct word.  I am guessing fear is more the correct word.  Perhaps he realized that rhetoric can lead to an attempt to topple the American government.  It is one thing to say X when you are insulated from the consequences.  Another when you are not insulated.

The dissenting justices indicated the disputes would not have disturbed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

But how can they be sure?  Any "victory" by these people would have been used as a wedge to call enough elections invalid to overturn the election results.  That's been the plan all along.  Why do you think they went venue shopping, filing so many cases in so many different courts?  As soon as one worked for them, they would claim total victory.

Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch need a refresher that being a conservative doesn't mean you always have to rule in favor of conservatives without merit.

Subby goes too far. Kavanaugh is part of a Conservative faction that was using Trump to get judges confirmed. They do not feel like they owe Trump anything. If any of them are disappointed in this case it is only because some of them think it would have been worth fanning the flames of insurrection in order to make it easier to steal elections and stay in power in the future.

Still not a good reason to have term limits.

A: Not Trump

Man he must be mad.  So confuse.  Much disloyal.  Kavanaugh is gonna get a strongly worded finger painting.

Nope. The plan all along was to raise money they could skim from.

Being a right-wing authoritarian does mean that you have to fall in line, so that's what Trump and his supporters believe. They're upset that something like 20% of people claiming to be Conservatives aren't just right-wing authoritarians wearing a mask like they do.

There are many good reasons to have term limits.  This is one of them.  Not near the top of the list, but certainly a positive.

If there's no ruling, there's no definitive answer.  They can keep the ambiguity and fuel the big lie.

Or if it was a secret ballot--as long as one of them went 'no', they could all claim they had the 'no' vote.

Don't care. He's still a rapist who shouldn't be on that bench and we should expect better from our justice system.

2021-03-01 10:42:24 AM
The attempted rape in his youth was certainly not a good thing, but should not disqualify him from office.  The mysteriously paid debt and his unhinged rant at confirmation should have.

That said, he is there now - and if he starts making rational decisions so much the better for us.

Gonna have to disagree there...

They're still going to make it more difficult to vote, they'll just do it with cases that don't have trump baggage.

Totalitarianism isn't good for other people in lifetime positions of power meets passionate misinterpretors of what they imagine the Constitution to be.  Throw in a few dinosaurs and a bigfoot and you've got yourself a Chuck Tingle novel.

Integrity would be taking the cases and dispensing with them clearly.

Naked corruption actually requires some amount of some kind of courage.

He has always been more cowardly than corrupt.

He probably just dislikes Trumplethinskin. Donnie isn't exactly a people person.

Of course trumpers are angry. They expect someone to STAY bought like McConnel, Lady Lindsey, etc.

Poker. You never show your cards unless you have to. These election fraud charges were never going to go anywhere. No reason to show your hand on those.
When the important cases come, like roe, then we will see his hand.

"the deciding vote"

that it wasn't 8-0 or 7-2 still seems like a pretty big issue to me.

I don't know where you work, but if I applied for a job and an attempted rape came up in the background check I wouldn't get hired as a janitor, let alone as a c level exec.

Yeah, I was hoping this article would be about protecting women's rights, voting rights or worker's rights, not white knighting a non-starter.
