One of the symptoms of covid is having no sense of taste, just sayin'.

Pre pandemic cholesterol and triglycerides were fine. May of pandemic...still fine. October of pandemic. NOT FINE.

Why?

Fast food take out opened again and I had easy access to junk food.

Had to stop getting take out and junk food. Sushi on Thursdays is my only take out now.

Blood work this week came back fine.

I haven't had McDonalds in about 10 years.

I had a TIA at 35 when I ate fast food and drank Pepsi almost exclusively.

But I t's more a matter of not breaking my streak than actual health reasons at this point!

They probably could have transited through an airport in a country other than on the "red list" and walked right into the UK without quarantine.

I was in a hotel quarantine for 10 days.

My chief symptom was boredom, complicated by bad food.

I'd have been excited to go to an Arby's.

/I loathe Arby's

A frivolous activity they didn't need to go to sounds perfect, actually.

Wrapping up my isolation tomorrow. No symptoms anymore.

And yes the worst part of having COVID was the sheer boredom and loneliness. Oh well for the greater good. I didn't spread it and my family didn't get it.

I can't wait to do the simple things like to for a drive, go to the grocery store, etc ...

I did the opposite and don't really eat fast food or take out at all any more.

I will feel a bit bad if any places I like go out of business..

As to tfa:
"But after 10 days of nothing but airline food brought to their hotel rooms,"

Wtf, why airline food?

A fair question that deserves a fair answer.

I believe and trust you, random woman in a window.

Unfortunately, many of your fellow travellers have not been so trustworthy and once at home treated quarantine as a suggestion rather than a life or death imperative.

The negative test means less than you think. Tests are not 100% sensitive and the virus can take many days to incubate to the point where it will show a positive test.

I sympathise with you, random woman in a window, you're paying the price for the poor choices of other people, but take some pride in the fact that your inconvenience is saving hundreds of lives.

They're lucky, if I had my way it would be cat food, not even the wet kind.

I had a Big Mac meal a couple of days ago. Hadn't had a McDonalds for over a year, and only rarely before that, but I had a lunch break and just fancied a Big Mac for a change. Jeeze, what a palaver the process was. It was like The Soup Nazi. Order here, stand there, no not there, there, wait for your number to be called, step forward take meal, leave, no not that way! That way!

She's also paying the price for her own poor choices, i.e. international travel during a pandemic.

just curious was this Individual quarantine or they stay together ? because 10 days is on the short side already and if you allow multiple person in a room you're suppose to extend the time in case person one just got it on the day before quarantine and passed it on to person 2 on the last day of quarantine (so 20 days in this scenario "if" 10 days is enough ) half measures = 0 result , not half results

Don't understand the ridicule. Who cares if they want Mickey D's as a Boobies-quarantine meal?

Lots more stupid shiat is going on than this. We got an entire political party in the US that is bat shiat in love with an ex-president who was a piece of shiat lyin' wanna-be-despot. That's something to ridicule. Heck, this ain't even on the radar.

When I've had a bad day, there's nothing like a Double Quarter Pounder and fries.
I had a hamburger this afternoon at a local joint.  Flavorless. Greasy. Overpriced.
I would have had a better, cheaper meal at McDonalds. At least they're consistent.

The one time my wife and I have gone out for a meal (as opposed to take-out) since the shutdown, we went to a fast food drive-through and ate in the parking lot.

I'm vaccinated now, but my wife's not yet, and restaurants mostly aren't doing outside dining around here right now.  OTOH, I can now go do wild and crazy stuff like go to the dentist.

First place I'm going when I'm vaccinated or when the virus is vanquished is mothafarkin Waffle House.
