Yah, regular Lenie's ale or lager is decent - the shandy stuff just tastes weird to me.

The OG is good, honey is ok, grapefruit shandy is passable. Leinie's red however... nectar of the gods level delicious.

Berryweis is what you got for your high school girlfriend when they ran out of JD country cocktails.

I like Summer Shandy. I'll take a look at the beer distributor this week to see if they got it in yet, and usually I buy an extra case or two in August before it goes away for the winter. it's a nice afternoon beer especially when I'm out fishing. beer snobs might sneer at me for drinking it, but I really don't care

entered the contest. not much use for an ice shanty personally, but I'd just be happy with a free beer

I just don't drink beer with "artificial failures" its beer,

It's ment to be a natural process that you tweak to make art.

And I got nothing against artificial flavors, just in beer.

Summer Shandy makes a great mixer for gin, if you're the type of person who likes some booze with their alcohol.

/take a big swig out of the bottle
//top off with a nip of gin
///profit?

The Shandys are a good summer beer, but a bit sweet for me.

I also liked Flying Dog's Old Bay flavored beer, but I don't think they brewed it last year because I'm in the minority there.

personally I would strike that and reverse it, but that's just me.

/take a big swig directly out the gin bottle
//top off with a nip of shandy

I learned that the hard way. We went in one place that had one of those encyclopedia sized beer menus. I pointed at a Belgian something or other. What I got was a "Belgian" lo-cal beer with artificial raspberry flavoring.

It will be a hot day in Greenland before this doofus orders any beer he hasn't had before again.

On a round trip between Milwaukee and Oshkosh a couple of weeks ago, I saw at least five ice shanties on trailers being towed on the expressway.

Leinie's is such a weird brewery.  It's history is this unique combination of keeping it real and in the family, and just selling out and making absolute garbage to earn a quick buck.  Their Shandies are all garbage in my opinion, but I hate the idea of sweet beer and fruit juice mixtures, so I'm admittedly super biased.  If you want alcoholic candy just make a Malibu and whatever fruit juice.  However, those are what got them into all 50 states, so making that garbage was a business decision that paid off big time.

On the flip side, even after they sold to Miller, then (I think) InBev, then Molson, their new corporate masters always saw fit to keep it with some autonomy, and left a member of the Leinenkugel family as President.  Leinenkugel's Original, I believe, hasn't been changed in the 154 years since it was unveiled.  Their beers are all pretty decent representations of that beer's style. .In 2017 they did a 150 year anniversary beer, that they contracted out to Hofbräuhaus in Munich, who made it using traditional Bavarian methods.

Anyway, I can't deal with the shandies.  I still dig their original.  Their Canoe Paddler, Northwoods Lager, and Oktoberfest are absolutely delicious.  The rest of their beers are pretty decent.

Real men huff paint. Not the good smellin' kind either.

Leinenkugel's Original is one of the few worth drinking  and the price is right ( except that time the decided to put it in craft beer bottles and charge craft brew prices ..that didn't work out so well for them ) . Sadly they don't just sell it everywhere like that other crap they sell .

A proper shandy with a good english bitter and english lemonade (english lemonade is fizzy) is good.

I have used bass pale ale and mike's hard lemonade with good results
