DuhSantis can do whatever he damn well pleases in Floriduh.  DuhSantis 64%, Rubio 12%, Scott 10% among Florida Republicans - a huge shift from July - in a Florida GOP poll.

This is the thing that makes DeSantis so scary to me if he ends up a presidential candidate. He is already under investigation for the popup clinic at Lakewood Ranch, and so what does he do? He keeps going and launches another one. He does what he wants because he knows he can get away with it.

He will be worse than Trump if he gets elected. He knows how to keep the public from having any meaningful input. One of his first accomplishments as governor was to squash the public provision for ballot initiatives, which means the public has little to no say anymore about important issues we lobby to get on the state ballots. He is in the pocket of developers like this crook Neal who created that Disney World in Venice. Neal is systematically paving every single square foot of land, destroying habitats, creating ecological nightmares that will exacerbate flooding and damage waterways.

Florida's been a problem for a long time and it deserves a lot of the vitriol and mocking directed at it, but one thing it has, or should I say had, is a lot of natural beauty in its plants and wildlife. This is going away fast thanks to carpetbaggers like DeSantis and Scott and a bunch of other greedy assholes in the state government.

Eventually, Republicans will destroy every inch of this state, rendering it uninhabitable. I live in Charlotte County, and watching the environmental destruction is infuriating and sad. He even built one of his sh*tty little communities in Pt. Charlotte.
There's not much natural coastline left in Florida, just high-rise condos and cookie cutter communities. On the plus side, the sea will eventually reclaim it all.

I would also contend that we really only have the one planet and the actions of a few can impact all of us. Yes, the first victim will be Florida...then what? Those Red Hats are gonna go somewhere after the sea swallows their hubris. Perhaps, they will come move next to some of us.

As to the week from hell...let's not mince words. It was bad. It was a lot worse than it needed to be. And it was definitely the GOP's fault. Now, let's make sure that everyone has access to power and water so we don't have to play 10th century French peasant simulator IRL.

Let me rephrase:

Collectively we let the GOP run around having awful logic.  End of the 🦆 ing story.

Thus the 'you voted for it' stands.
Because a vote means the majority wanted that.
America voted for Trump. (Will the electorate did) so. We collectively deserve almost losing our Capitol.
End of the story.

Dems need a cohesive message for 2022. They have to explain why uncontrolled growth and environmental destruction is not good for Florida. We're destroying one of the main draws to this state...........the natural environment, the beaches, the water.
If we destroy all of it, there's nothing left but relocated northerners, cockroaches and mosquitoes.

The thing is, like Texas recently, most of the people hurt by Republican policies are the working class and POC who didn't vote for these assholes. A lot of farkers, including self-identified "progressives" who go on and on about Biden not helping people, often don't think their cunning hot takes all the way through. Bovine Diarrhea Virus: I didn't vote for that f*cker. I don't deserve the sh*t DeSantis is putting this state through.  He's an evil, large-headed goblin that needs to be kicked out of office.  I am supporting Nikki Fried for governor in 2022. Hopefully Florida doesn't f*ck this up
/Florida will f*ck this up royally

And you, as an individual, have my sympathy. The state as a whole might get some if DeSantis' approval rating wasn't so high after all the shiat he's pulled.

parasol: Floridians, or Floridians who voted for DeSantis?

"You voted for it, you deserve it" posted to people who didn't and don't, has gone past cliche and into trite.

Fair point, most of the Floridian folks here didn't vote for him. My ire isn't for those people, but rather for the collective repetitive self-destructive bad habit that is the Florida electorate.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brass tacs, people should actually move the fark off of the all our coast.
So in the interim, if they want to vote for stupid farking GOP idiot stupid shiat.
Meh.  It's all going to be under water.

This story makes me extra angry. My 88 year old grandmother lives in Venice, FL where this took place, and since she's not rich nor a Republican, she's having a hell of time trying to get a vaccine. As it stands now my mom might have to drive her 90 minutes away just to get her first dose

F*ck. You. Desantis. Preferably with something sharp and rusty

Really? Has your mom signed up? My mom is 78 and had had botha shots. Easy peasy. Why the victim hood?

She's been signed up for over a month you dickweed, and tries every morning to get on a Publix list. Don't assume sh*t you know nothing about

Rents live in FL.  It's a mess.  Try Walmart and get on at midnight.  That's what my Mom did after trying Publix and having no luck.  Got an appointment first time she tried.  Good luck.

My future DiL finally got her folks in for their first round.
Took her about a week of hitting re dial and then they had to travel three counties over.

Its crazy in most states I think.

And Disney World.

You are right, a cohesive message almost always benefits the Dems. Especially given DeSantis' crazy approval numbers, "At least we're not that asshole" won't go far (and it never does, apparently).

parasol: palelizard: dodecahedron: This is the thing that makes DeSantis so scary to me if he ends up a presidential candidate.

Florida needs a Stacey Abrams so bad.....

But I fear it'll never happen. The people that move to this state have a classic case of "I've got mine, fark you" mentality, and that often leads to red votes. As time moves on and more of "those" people keep moving to this state, we're forever doomed. Long done are the days of sane governors like Graham and Chiles, hell even Bush and Crist were farking sane in comparison to Prick Scott and Dipshiat DeSantis.

EL EM: Is it my imagination, or is a pattern developing?

The pattern has been in place for a long time.

People come to Florida to end their lives. Why is that so hard to understand?

I have lost track of how many times I have said it. Do not come to Florida! You will die here. If you can not stop your loved ones from coming here you are a scumbag that does not care about them.

If your apathy for your loved ones has failed you can still do one more thing. Convince them to flee. Contact me if they have property because I will at least give them gas money in exchange for their dwelling so they can run for their lives. You must not allow them to be here a minute longer.

But. It's factual. Look at abortion. Men aren't oppressing women all by themselves the numbers prove other women are helping them.

The GOP is allowed by their coworkers, friends, family, lovers, and mistresses to keep having flawed logic. No stops them and says:
Hay fark stick that policy would harm people with no power to fight back, you fark  👄

Exactly! It's not like abortion is harming anyone, so why would anyone have a problem with it. Stupid republicans thinking that a a fetus is more important than the life of a cow or chicken. Where the EFF do they get off? It's not like we are eating them instead of cows, yet.

It's mind boggling.

Preach it! I really am getting tired of this asshole classifying my job and initiative as essential. What a dick! I want to stay home and collect the free money others are getting.

Why should I be penalized for adapting and finding a way to overcome obstacles and provide for myself and family in the face of the greatest crisis this nation has ever experienced like some kind of boot licking republican? It really is sickening. Hopefully, one day, I will find the strength to overcome the systemic drive to be productive and responsible and collect money while sitting on my ass and complaining as it should be for all.
