If you're gonna get masked up, you still need to kneel before the Mummies.

Considering the bassist confirmed the reality eight years ago, this is hardly news.

If you can't tell that's Tre Cool just by the way he drums like he lost a pair of sticks up his ass, can you really call yourself a fan of these cockknoblins?

I appreciate that Bob and Tom bring in talent, but damned if it isn't hard listening to them over those chuckling jackasses.

At the beginning of the video, The Roots' drummer can clearly be seen saying, "It's Green Day."

They didn't wear masks, but Neil Young and his band used to play small clubs in the Santa Cruz area during the 70's as The Ducks. Rolling Stone magazine reported that once the word got out, ducks calls were sold out in the entire county. They had to stop because the shows got too well known.

I really like Green Day, but what good comes from dressing up on tv? Go out in disguise in the bay area and play some gigs. I can recommend several clubs in the south bay that would be happy to have you. Besides, you already left your mark on late night tv back when it was still cool. Hang on to your wigs and keys!

their letterman appearances were one of the best things teenage me ever watched.  I thought it was kind of cool when they played 86 on there, considering the connotations of that song & their past.  I wasn't with them from the start, but as soon as i heard dookie I bought the 2 lookout records albums too.. To me between those, dookie, & insomniac are all seminal albums that stand the test of time.   Kind of like megadeth or metallica or slayer's first 4, its just a budding band putting everything they got out there and nailing it.

Say what you will about the theatrics of Phoebe Bridgers's SNL performance, her guitar smashing was a mountain more earnest than this sputtering tryhardism.

God bless 'em. Billie Joe has known how to write a super-solid pop song with energy to spare since, what--16? 17? Green Day had out-written many a power-pop act by the time they were 20. The fact that they are still going, as vital as ever, and doing weird-ass side projects is amazing.

the Grateful Dead, 4/1/80, pulled a great April Fool's prank;  they came out and played Chuck Berry's "The Promised Land"......with each member on their non-usual instrument.  jerry garcia on drums, mickey hart on lead guitar, Bob Weir on keys, Brent Mydland on bass, and Phil on guitar.  I'ts truly ass.  Having thrown the audience for a loop, after the song was done, they each went to their real instrument and the show started.

U2 / The Dalton Brothers Live 1987 - Lucile / Lost Highway
Youtube piqPgMUB23Y

fall 1987, opening band Los Lobos got snowed in before the U2 show in Indianapolis. the promoter told the band, "there's no opener, we need you onstage in 20 minutes."  U2 huddled, and scrounged up wigs and cowboy hats, etc., and took the stage as "The Dalton Brothers":  Luke (Edge), Alton Dalton (Bono), Duke (Larry) and in a glorious wig, Betty (Adam).  They played a few country songs that were worked onstage with no rehearsal.  Only the folks in the first few rows caught on that it was in fact U2.  They only did it 3-4 times as once word got out who the "Dalton Brothers" were, it kinda became a thing.

here's the Dalton Bros at LA a few months later.  "We play both kinds of music;  country and western."

/yes it's a Blues Brothers joke.
