Seriously, "Eat This Not That" can fark off. Tired of seeing their half-assed claims & spurious bullshiat presented as though it was factual.

Farking site should have a disclaimer which reads "Content presented by this website is for entertainment purposes only, and should not be construed as journalism, research, or facts."

Dr.Fey: baka-san: Texas: all soft drinks are Coke, unless it's a DrPepper

"You wanna coke?"
"Sure, what kinds ya got?"

How's that work elsewhere?

At the bar:
"Gimme a Bud"
"What kind?"
"Guinness, please."

At the convenience store:
"Gimme a pack of Camels"
"What kind?"
"Marlboro, please."

At the pet store:
"I would like to buy a dog."
"What kind?"
"I have a saltwater tank."

As a native Texan:

- The request normally isn't for a Coke but for the specific beverage. Someone will ask for a Coke, or Diet Coke, or Dr. Pepper etc.
- It is more common for the offerer to say "Can I get you a Coke or something?" The respondent will then say "Yeah, I will take Dr. Pepper (or Coke, or Diet Coke etc.)
- Most of the time people just ask what do you want to drink and the respondent says exactly what they want, a Coke, Dr. Pepper etc.
- It is more common to see the phrasing Soft Drink (or Fountain Drink) than Soda. Pop is not a thing at all here.
- It is true that we do sometimes categorize it as "Coke" but the context is pretty limited in how that gets referred.

While the study just focused on people who consume high amounts of sugar in soft drinks, I'd be interested to see if associations could be made between diet sodas and autoimmune diseases.

Speaking as someone with autoimmune inflammatory issues that Doctors still can't exactly nail down (I have several genetic markers and experience chronic back pain, but my imaging doesn't show much), I have recently begun to realize that drinking anything with aspartame used as a sweetener generally increases the likelihood that my pain will be worse the following days.

[i.imgflip.com image 578x431]

Fark that. This shiat keeps showing up in the Food tab, where we spend time tearing it apart, and that's fine - but, in the STEM tab, where we're supposed to be looking at, y'know, science?

I want to stare at Science's ass as it walks by, not yell at this kind of shiat standing where Science should be standing while it catcalls & touches itself.

"Pop" sounds terrible to my Suthun sensibilities.  On the other hand, Suthun sensibilities largely got us into the political mess we're in now.

So I welcome our popoverlords.

Apparently the people in coastal North Carolina, judging from the map. But they're weird anyway, they eat vinegar-based barbecue sauce. What can you say about such people?

Wait, is the CO2 the problem? Or the sugar?

If the sugar, yeah, well, it's another sugar is bad article.

Sugar is bad.

If it's the CO2, then that's beers, sparkling wines and a lot of cocktails.

Tl;dr Article seems to say that too much sugar is bad for you, not specifically soda. But you have to read 2/3 of the way down until they get to that point.
