Good thing Democrats are in charge, since Republicans are unwilling to govern at all these days.

A 1.9$ trillion relief bill that helps people is too expensive, but a 1.9$ trillion bill under Trump that was a giveaway to megacorps and the wealthy was not.

WOW. Republicans actually had a great chance to prove they weren't ALL pandering to trump this entire time, but no. It literally took less than 2 months for them to rebuild their stonewall approach, re-insert their fingers into their ears, and their thumbs up their butts.

Republicans are against anything, anything at all, that helps the whole country.

And everyone needs to talk about that to their faces, constantly.

Good job democrats, for now. F**k you republicans.

If there was a Babies, Kittens and Puppies, incinerator, whose sole function was making ash, Democrats would be pushing to reduce it to ONLY 12 working hours a day from it's current 24/7 run time, and Republicans would insist that not only can we not reduce the hours, but, we need to build a second facility.

Because Republicanism has utterly failed. Giving out money to people who are struggling during a pandemic is a no-brainer slam-dunk of an issue. The arguments about debt are obvious nonsense. The arguments about creating dependency are obvious nonsense. There is no rational defense. Republicans just can't be allowed to be seen working with Democrats or doing something that might help a black person so they have to oppose it. That's all they can do now. They can make things worse or try to drag down anything that might make things better. They have no other moves.

You are *surprised* that the thing that the Democrats have been screaming about for years has passed the Democratic House?

Did you not know they did that before back in May?

Like what did you think they were going to do, cross their arms, look at the progressives square in the eye and say "No." ???

Everytime I think the GOP can't get more transparently horrible and disconnected from voters, I realize that they don't have to be accountable to voters, really.

I'm open to honest argument on when it's best to reopen the schools. But I don't expect honest argument from Republicans who don't give honest argument on mask or distancing benefits, who don't give honest argument on who needs or actually gets a tax cut, on who needs rent relief, on simple math or constitutionality of how we pick our presidents. They can't even acknowledge that radicals openly trying to assassinate them on behalf of an obviously criminal president is a bad thing that ought to be strongly dealt with. They just aren't sane.

fragMasterFlash: History has seldom ever been kind to the poor. Republicans like things just fine that way, apparently.

Modern day Republicans want to keep things where they can intimidate, denigrate, sublimate, manipulate, and discriminate against others. I probably missed a few, but that apparently is their definition of freedom.

Mr. Coffee Nerves: But when it was time to hand out $1.9 trillion in corporate welfare they dropped to their knees as fast and so hard en masse it slowed down the earth's rotation

Or the $3 trillion that the Fed somehow pulled out of thin air to help stop the stock market collapse last year. When do I get my shares of that? But nope, we definitely can't give Americans $1400 or a little bit extra in unemployment each week.

2021-02-27 8:38:56 AM
Two Democrats also voted against the bill: Kurt Schrader of Oregon and Jared Golden of Maine.

I wish it was the full $2000, and not the means tested bullshiat $1400 we got. I don't understand why Democrats are so obsessed with means testing. Basically, this type of means testing tells thousands of big city Democrats that they are too wealthy to help when the CoL in big cities is astronomical.

And yet, we will still hear about how delays in it getting passed and the fact that it doesn't do everything are all the Dems fault. I mean we haven't even hit the start of 2022 and you are already seeing the "might as well sit out 2022 midterms to teach a lesson" bad faith actors online.

The problem is Republican ideas have failed, but Republican power hasn't. Because it turns out voting for your "team" is more important than voting for what helps the country.

It's the Democrats' fault they even tried that weirdo gambit to put a minimum wage hike in a budget bill to cover up for the fact they weren't going with the full $2000 that they promised. It's also the Democrats' fault that they didn't know the rules. And, if the minimum wage hike doesn't pass in a stand-alone bill, it will be the Democrats' fault for not nuking the filibuster.

Mike Turner voted against it and started spreading disinformation about it on Twitter. As I'm in his district, I really don't know what to do about the guilt and anger I feel towards myself for not doing enough to get his opponent elected. I'm responsible for what he does, and what he's doing is awful, and I'm guilty of his actions. I don't know what to do.

And yet, at election time, Middle America will sit down in front of their ballot and go "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............nope.....I can't decide."

While mostly due to the right, we are also in this mess because there are too many people in this country who are wishy washy wimps who can't make a decision despite all the facts in their face.
