Of all places one would think indoor "cycling" class would be a bit ridiculous in Hawaii. Get outside people!

Certainly not as bad as motorists who kill 40,000 people a year because they're all a bunch of self-entitled assholes.

Wow, it's like people breath extra heavily while exercising, or something. Who would have thought?

Fair point, plus all of us in our maskless indoor driving class gave each other carbon monoxide poisoning.

Fursecution: This whole "can't exercise wearing a mask" confuses me because the minor fad before Covid hit was altitude training masks.

I have asthma and wearing a mask while exercising makes me feel like I'm closer to triggering an asthma attack than exercising without a mask. I don't know if it will actually trigger an asthma attack, but it feels like it will and I don't want to push my luck. So I understand why people don't like masks when working out. This (as well as obvious safety concerns of still going to the gym even if I wore a mask) is why I cancelled my gym membership when the pandemic started and have instead been working out at home for the last year.

I guess what I'm saying is that the people who continue to go to indoor gyms after the pandemic started are dumbasses. You can do a lot of your workout at home, you just need to adapt your routines, buy some basic things like resistance bands and maybe a cheaper equivalent to the overpriced TRX straps.

A spin class has almost nothing to do with cycling except you're on a machine with pedals

If you can exercise with a mask, the mask isn't going to be effective: even a tightly fitted n95 will have you blowing around it.

Alternately, the mask works and you can pop a lung from the pressure.

Regardless, going to a gym right now is farking stupid.

You'd THINK so, but when I lived in Honolulu I found cycling difficult. The roads were old and narrow, there were very few bike lanes, and bikes were not permitted on sidewalks. I just wasn't comfortable biking on the street with tourists in rental cars and daily commuters already frustrated by traffic. I enjoyed biking in some of the parks, but of course, I had to bike on the street to get there, and the only good time with traffic was early morning.

I keep warning people about the dangers of going maskless when around dihydrogen monoxide, but nobody listens.
