That's beyond needing to resign.
Those are threats.

That was much worse than I expected. She had to try three or four times to get the statement heard.

At least three people on that board should turn in resignations.

In fairness, I think she meant "take them on" the way subby's mom "takes on" 5 or 6 guys at once.  Which would be fine, assuming it's consensual.  Let's not rush to judgment here.

So what is the point of the article in saying "SSGOC, the multi-racial group of residents from Homewood"??  There was no mention of race at all until this point.

If we want racism to go away, then pointless statements about race need to go away.

See, this is precisely the sort of thing I meant in the Evangelical University thread a while back, and was told off, and reffered to the politics tab, as I was ruining that person's nice and tidy religion thread: Literally everything about Evangelical Universities IS political - they are training minds like the woman in TFA to specifically hold local-authority positions, in order to furter the political leanings of right-wing extremist Christianity.

They are a literal national security threat. There's plenty of folk worried about how Muslims are trying to take over the school system to 'indoctrinate the kids', yet here you are with the literal extremist Christian equivalent already having infiltrated most sectors of government in the US. (Loads of examples, including that horrid Davis woman who refused marriage licenses to gays, and pharmacists refusing to give out birth control).

Your whole nation has been infiltrated to the core by extremist fundamentalist religious whackos!!

It's the Chicago area. Probably the most racially segregated place I know--and I know that town. A group being multiracial there is a big deal worth mentioning. And rightly or wrongly, you can bet most people reading that local Patch are talking about the racial factors regarding economic development or decay. Especially if they're old enough to have watched the decay just to the north and now in Homewood. They'll usually blame race, but what happened was union-busting, off-shoring and killing the steel mills which in turn killed the local economies the mills supported. (My LL baseball team was sponsored by "the Steelworkers.") Whites moved out and were replaced by blacks, with locals that remained confusing race for socioeconomics as causing the economic decay.

(I lived in Harvey just to the north as it turned ghetto. Father did an excellent job of teaching me the difference between race and poverty as I saw my world change. It wasn't hard for me to see white friends treated better than black friends when we were all in the same boat living the same lives.)

The other side of the property borders Hazel Crest which is 3/4 black.  They would be greatly affected by this. Race is mentioned because it seems to be following the pattern of disenfranchising the poor/not white communities.  Also paving over green space affects us all. There is plenty of large abandoned developed properties in the area that could be used instead.

Try working in fast food.

You're paid by the hour, not by the customer or by what the customers spend.

And some people are uptight assholes. Or stupid, or indecisive, or needy, or whatever.

Customer A takes 3 minutes to order and pay for something, a process that would normally take 45 seconds. In the meantime, Customers B through E are looking at their watches, you, and Customer A in exasperation because they're already 6 minutes into a 30-minute lunch break and they really don't want to shovel their meal into their mouths like Shaggy. And you desperately want to serve them, but Customer A is still processing the possible permutations of the dollar menu. Or specifying exactly how many onion slivers to put on their Whopper. And because you're mentally in lunch-rush mode, having to just stand there leave you vibrating and anxious. So guy start a brief but intense hatred of Customer A.

Obviously, you're SO "race-blind" that when you read the article you didn't happen to notice the overall complexion of the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Which I'm sure is entirely coincidental and in no way related to their opposition.

I actually have. Luckily I was the boss of the center, and one of the first things I said during the first meeting was "How many people here have heard the phrase 'The customer is always right?'" and you could see the moping faces and the smiles fade, "well, that doesn't hold true in my book. YOU are always right, I trust YOU more than I trust the customers. But the only thing I'm asking is treat everyone well, and if ANYONE mistreats you, send them my way. I will put them in their place."

If employees hate their customers, then most probably it's misguided anger that was created by bad management.

/productivity skyrocketed compared to past periods
