I didn't know it was back.  I thought Katrina killed it.

I used to really like their Blackened Voodoo 20+ years ago, which is about the last time I've seen it in stores.

Dixie receives product placement in the classically bad Brian Bosworth vehicle "Stone Cold".  Watch it on Rifftrax.

Tastes like absolute piss. But, I do have fond memories of knocking a bunch back at the Acme Oyster House.

This is beyond the pale ale!

Honestly, though -- when will we have to rename the state of Bavaria just because a really bad person once came from there (and the eponymous beer from Holland, while we're at it)?

The Dixie Chicks are naturally gunshy because they once criticized Dubya and got boycotted. But I thought a brewery might have a little more spine.

TFA: The name comes from an ancient French term for settled areas outside a city.

All the amazing possibilities for a beer brewed in New Orleans and they named it "Le Suburb?" They had a contest and everything!

Funny. My Dad used to buy generic beer from a local grocery chain called Schwegman's that was brewed by Dixie back in the day.

I always wondered if they had a pipeline from the swamp for the water they used.

First time I opened a bottle, the stench nearly gagged me

Lucky Lager used to brew it out here (Oregon) alongside their own brand.  You could buy generic, or spend a few cents more for Lucky.  Both had bottles that featured a rebus on the inside of the bottle cap.  The Big Boys didn't offer that.  We also worked out that during college, the generic beer was the cheapest drink to buy; cheaper than pop, milk, juice, anything.  So it was a great rationalization.  Beer and a puzzle: what more do you want for your money?
