For 100 episodes, the studio awards you...a sheet cake?

/CSB: That line comes from Duff McKagan's book, "It's So Easy  *and other lies" about his time with Guns 'N' Roses, where their record company gave them a store-bought sheet cake after their album went platinum. A great read, highly recommended.

The original one stopped mattering when Patinkin left.

And the less said about the one with Sinise the better.

Because serial killers are interesting. Next question.

I liked it for the first few years.  Then it just turned into "what gross thing can we say serial killers do".  Always liked the cast though, even through the changes.

A Criminal Minds spinoff featuring The Bowler and John Constantine?

Wat?

I swear I've spent the past year watching so much Law and Order SVU I think I can solve a murder case and take it to trial and win all within 45 minutes.

Crime porn is a guilty pleasure. Criminal Minds still has some of the best characters ever written for television.

Yup, and it was glorious. If you get the chance check it out. It pops up occasionally on some the streamers.

Same. I've seen every episode of every Law & Order, SVU, and Criminal Intent, though. The CSIs are okay, as long as you don't take them seriously (especially Miami). I don't "get" the NCIS shows.

The NCIS episode where pre-teens were influenced to be killing machines by subliminal Morse Code messages buried in the bass track of Techno music was the last straw for me.

He did good work in that role and so did Mantegna. The problem with Patinkin leaving (as when he's done it in every show he's abandoned) is that it left a massive hole. The guy has major gravitas and him leaving unbalanced the chemistry. It's to the rest of the cast's credit they managed to keep it together.

But... why would pre-teens know Morse code? I mean, they couldn't be influenced by it unless they could interpret it...

/I honestly have no idea if that is actually anything resembling an actual plot :p

According to CBS, the most effective crime fighting/offensive/tactical/strategic agency in the world is NCIS

I went through the first couple seasons a few years back when I was working the overnight shift.  I stopped because I was getting bored with it, and then there was a string of episodes where I correctly identified the baddie not because of anything in the show but because I was recognizing actors from other things.

But I get why people like it - it's safe horror; "ooh these scary, bad people are out there.  But don't worry, they're always caught by the end of the episode"

Shemar Moore was always my favorite, closely followed by the techie.

I love Mandy Patinkin but he was just too intense for this show. The show itself was intense and we didn't need more.

I wonder about people who watch those shows.
Do they get a feeling of empowerment when the bad people are punished?
Do they get turned-on by the sick crimes?

See also: Dexter, Judge Judy.

Do you masturbate when you wonder about these people?

Because being better than them is the only way you can achieve sexual gratification?

Are you masturbating right now?

Dick Wolf created a Law & Order UK series back in 2009. Great cast, and they basically just reworked scripts from the L&O franchise to fit the UK police and court system (i.e. CCTV cameras everywhere). Just my opinion, but it's worth tracking down (Arrrr, matey) for seeing how US popcorn TV gets translated to Brit.

Nudging my arm is fine, as long as you don't lift the paper thin blanket that I'd be furiously pleasuring my rock hard three inches under, it's all good. Unless that's your thing, in which case... I'm there for you, stallion.

What I got from NCIS is the Navy and Marines must have about a 20x higher chance of being murdered than just about any other group in the US. That's excluding the chance that you go into combat too.

I liked to binge the show while working from home.  I thought the quality really went down when they fired Thomas Gibson, but apparently he was a jerk face on set.

CSS/ This is the show I binged while going through my divorce.  After drunkenly walking the dog at 2am, I remember walking up the stairs to my bedroom and thinking: 'if someone is there planning to torture, rape and kill me, at least it will be over soon'.

That thought is the one that convinced me I needed help.

/I got better

It's a great show, with a great cast, but I have no desire to watch a Torture Deviant of the Week type show...I have become a softie in my older age. The various scenarios, which they have to make weirder and more evil each week, just trouble me too deeply.

My 16 year old daughter and her friends are obsessed with the Gubler guy for some reason...odd.

He was the first unsub they encountered that was...created. And he and Joe Matanaga  did an excellent job in the interrogation scene.  I haven't watched the whole series yet, but that's the best scene I've watched so far.
