I remember when there was no internet. Kids today cant fathom that world. I still think the fake meat is weird. Give it a generation and it will be second nature. This is a good thing.

I mean.  Falafels are normal for lots of people.  I don't think we're that far from eating burger shaped plant stuff.

There's a veggie burger they sell at Costco that I utterly love. Don Lee Farms. It doesn't try to taste like meat, it doesn't try to fool you. It tastes like a veggie burger, and it tastes good. A little mayo, a little mustard, a slice of cheese, couple pickles and you're in business.

Plants don't taste like meat, and that's OK.

Frances Moore Lappé agrees.

Which I can only presume will be so packed with MSG as to be even more unhealthy than the rest of the menu.

Neat although I am assuming we're going to hear about cross contamination from a beef patty or person getting upset that it has mcheeze on it.

Calling it "McPlant" just means people won't be buying it. A "Beyond Big Mac" or "Beyond Quarter Pounder" would make more sense. I've always felt that the best way to introduce meat alternatives would be at this 'lowest common denominator' level at fast food restaurants, as the fat slobs who eat there wouldn't actually know the difference because the quality of the real meat is so poor to start with.

MSG.  You mean that stuff in mushrooms and seaweed?

As long as it tastes good, I don't care if it's meat or not.

I'm pretty sure it'll taste like schitt, be expensive and they will somehow make it chemical and cellulose laden while losing any nutritional value it could have had. But hey, you are getting fries and a coke with that, so it's not like it makes a farking difference.

McGarbage... it's not a dietary choice, it's a (short yet convenient) lifestyle!

and, DNRTFA (stupid amounts of 3rd-party javascript domains, and not even outline-ify could save TFA) - but, honestly? if McD's is getting plant-based stuff I'm generally all for it. well, only if it's cheap.
