Thing reads like more of an ad for the base X7 than what they actually did to it.

I love Daniel Craig 'n' all, but James Bond:
• Drives an Aston Martin
• Wears a Rolex

BMW owner here (yeah, yeah, I know).

You know what grinds my gears? Every single BMW commercial that flashes a monthly payment across the screen that sounds kinda sorta affordable but every car being shown is either an M or Euro spec. You show up at the dealer and proclaim "I want the one in the commercial!" and the salesman informs you that that one isn't available here.

Eh, that seams fairly industry standard though, maybe just not to that extreme.  Ever see an ad for a Corolla or Civic saying you can get one for under $100 a month? Yeah, not only does it typically have the "shown with added features" fine print but if you actually ask for the cheap model, chances are three response'll be Toyota only shipped 3 of them to the US and they're all in bumfark Iowa.

Wouldn't the "panoramic sunroof" be a weak spot in the armoring?

Does it have an integrated Morse key?  No?

Then it doesn't have everything.

Not integrated, but it's an Accent.  Hyundai's don't have integrated Morse keys until you step up to the Genesis brand.

I am particularly impressed with that customised transceiver mounting system. :-)

Heh.

I don't have room to actually mount it anywhere.  The only place it can be reasonably mounted is on the passenger side of the console, and I already have my 2 meter radio mounted there.

Plus, doing that way allows me to remove it easily.  My son uses my car a lot, and for some reason he doesn't like having a radio sitting where a girl would typically sit.   Plus, I take off the 7' antenna because 17 year olds don't know how to steer around in drive throughs to avoid hitting stuff, and for some reason it's considered "uncool".   I don't know why, all my ham radio buddies like it.

Got a dead headlight bulb in my BMW. All I have to do now is remove the front wheel, and remove the fender liner to get at the back of the light. Seriously. Oh, and then there was the time I had to return a rear turn signal bulb. You have to replace the entire assembly. $500.

But it's still an SUV, so it's driven by mommies and daddies in denial.

Yup. You see the price and think it's for that loaded X7. When you get there, it's actually the price for a 230i optioned like a Hyundai rental car. Then you get the "destination charge," "dealer prep (I'll wash it myself, thank you)," and hard sell for the extended warranty.

Theoretically, you can leave the wheel on, but my knuckles still bear the scars from doing a wheel-in-place bulb replacement on my E90. And if you lose the spring clip, you have to replace the entire assembly.

Seriously. Oh, and then there was the time I had to return a rear turn signal bulb. You have to replace the entire assembly. $500.

Take home point: Next time, buy the LED light package.

Had to do that on my Traverse as well. I thought when I got the BMW there would be better engineering. Nope.

It is the LED taillight. It's all one piece.

The idea is to GTFO, so being bulletproof is good, getting out with a dinan 700 horsepower is good also. Adding an inch of bulletproof glass means the stock 335 hp will have you leaving the scene like a rubber band powered bathtub boat...

Sheesh, a bunch of know-it-alls on top of everything else.
