There's no way he can talk himself out of this:

" "They're Joe's glasses, so that means his face came through your windshield," one of the detectives said in an interview released by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety on Tuesday."

Of course he did. Lying sack of shiat.

Won't matter. He won't do jail time or pay a fine.

He's republican. Do we expect anything other than lies?

"At no time has this issue impeded his ability to do the work of the office,"

Right, because a state's Attorney general, is in no way impeded in his official duties as the local leading law enforcement officer, by having killed somebody with his car and then having lied about it in a f*cking courtroom.

Why would you think he wouldn't face jail time?  He lied to the cops the night it happened and then right there in the interview.

Let's start overturning sentences and giving him one

I'm in Sioux Falls. Everyone, including Republicans, knew this guy was full of shiat from day one. It's pretty damning when even Palin of the Plains is calling for your head.

He's rich enough, white enough, and Republican enough to avoid punishment.

They did give him a ticket for careless driving, though, in order to stave off any protests that would rise from them not punishing him at all (as opposed to the protests which rose from them going that far out of their way to not give him the same punishment they would have given to some random schmuck who did the same thing he did). The "punishment" also prevents the state from making any effort to actually punish him, since he can just say "double jeopardy lol" to get further charges against him dismissed.

Double-jeopardy does not apply and I think the SD State statute of limitations on manslaughter is 6 years.

If they found the victims glasses in this guy's car, because his face pierced the windshield, I don't know how you defend that by saying it was a deer.

The guy was driving drunk and hit a guy walking down the road. He called his buddy the sheriff, who responded. Not a deputy or the State Police, but the sheriff himself. You know the sheriff wasn't on duty at that time of night.

Sheriff sees what happened and sends the AG home in the sheriff's own car. He tells the AG to come back after he's sober and "find" the body, which he does.

Both of them should be in jail.

Two questions which need to be answered (I mean in general, not necessarily by you in particular) before either of them could end up in jail:

Who exactly is gonna arrest the AG and his co-conspirator? And who exactly is gonna prosecute the case against the Sheriff and his co-conspirator?

He'll lose his job. Nobody will ever look at him again without thinking of a face of a man he killed coming through his windshield and him walking away from it. He has no  authority any more.

I don't know what'll happen in court.

Not necessarily. After all, he isn't gonna talk himself out of it. He's gonna 'exist as a Republican' his way out of it. Talking will have nothing to do with it.

what I love about it is the sheriff said when he first came out to the scene he looked around the scene but couldn't remember if he had a flashlight with him or not.

right. only one person comes out and they don't even bring a flashlight?

Boiled down to their very essence, Black Lives Matter and related movements are about objecting to the privileged and powerful being able to kill those considered 'lesser' by society at large and get away with it.

With BLM, the cops fit into the 'powerful' category while Black people fit into the 'those considered lesser' category. But in this case, 'Republican Attorney General' and 'Person significantly poorer and less powerful than said Attorney General' can slot into those respective spots just as easily.

No, the justice system will be working exactly as designed. Your cousin is more than likely A Poor. Not a well-connected member of the GOP Old Money Club.

Last week, prosecutors announced three misdemeanor charges against Ravnsborg.
If found guilty of all charges, Ravnsborg could face up to 90 days in jail and $1,500 in damages.

90 days for manslaughter for killing the apparent $1,500 man.  What a country.
