real_headhoncho: TBC: Auntie Cheesus: Mycroft_Holmes_IV: Do women really give each other advice about bras?

I'm a guy, and I don't think male undergarments have ever come up in conversation with another guy.  Except perhaps in reference to atomic wedgies as kids.

Oh, Hell yes.  Bra engineering is a big subject when ladies get together, especially among well-endowed women.  Proper cup fit, proper width shoulder straps and finding the right fit is a problem for many women.

My poor mom was 5'0" and was a 36EE before she finally had them thangs reduced. She needed steel-belted radial bras engineered by freakin' Goodyear, and that's just for daily wear. We had to call in bigger guns when she wanted to play racquetball. She has permanent strap marks in her shoulders. Back problems, the whole nine. I'm grateful daily that I'm the "flat-chested" one in the family, and even mine still get in my damn way and I wish I could just unscrew them and leave them on the nightstand while I sleep.

Bras are srs bzns.

Fun fact! Jeanette Goldstein, the actress who played Vasquez in Aliens, owns a bra shop in CA that caters to women who are well-endowed. Their motto is 'The alphabet starts with D'.

The stuff I learn about on Fark....

Hey Drew, you should apply for a Educational Grant.

It's even better: she has a nonprofit to help girls in foster care called Hourglass Underground, and all proceeds from the sale of strapless bras go to that nonprofit. The website for her shop is located right here.

Dallymo: TBC: Dallymo: I also am confused by the Lively ads on MSNBC.  Is it a bra?  Is it a hearing aid?  It can't be both, can it?  OR CAN IT?

Thank FSM I'm not the only one.

I posted about this a week or two ago. Between the Lively confusion and the Truly conundrum, I have no idea anymore.

All we need now is ads for Madly and Deeply.

Madly would be...psych meds and...?

Deeply would be dildos and...? bathtubs that fit humans?

TBC: Chatted with a friend who works at Duluth Trading Company. I just put in a big ol' order during their Clearance sale, and I wanna make sure she's there when I go pick it up because I'm bringing her cat butt colouring books. She's given me her schedule for the rest of the week, and I've made arrangements to head down there on Friday. (I sense that she's going to find some sneaky way to give me a discount, though I have not requested such a thing. DTC clothing is expensive, though, so I won't complain.)

I looooooove their longtail shirts and shiftless crewneck sweaters.  I find them to be well-made; I buy them when they're on sale and get a ton of use out of them.

They're still having Clearance sales. Adding more stuff every day, from what I understand. Sizes and ciolours, however, are limited.

I didn't have the auto pull-down on the Deville just the Eldorado
But what the Deville had was an auto release parking brake which made for easy bootlegger turns

We had a more recent Deville with auto trunk pull-down. Any time someone else closed the trunk, I shouted "Don't slam the ..." <wham!> So the mechanism got broken regularly.

Rain-sense wipers? Now that's living!

I have not been with a lot of women.
They seemed more comfortable without a bra and a tee shirt to sleep in. They were very sexy.

Okay, so I started watching The Alienist tonight.

I know that Caleb Carr was a consulting producer on this show, but I'm still pissed at it.

I've read the book a number of times and am just now listening to it on Audible, so I guess I am a bit biased, but yeah. Still pissed. Pissed at the televised relationship between Roosevelt and Kreizler/Moore, pissed at Moore needing to frequent whores just to make things look spicy for freakin' TNT. Etc. Yeah, some of this is pissing me off righteously.

I should know better than to hold a show to the standards of the book by this point, but still.

Basically this is the nightmare situation where Democracy can and will end if you don't do things right, and it is going to take some time.  So chill.  Have a margarita, Rach.

It was quiet the whole winter and we just realized the absence of some wildlife, except for the owls and their fearsome screech. We have an interesting collection of birds out here. The vultures forebode demise while the mockingbirds herald a new Spring full of hope.

I noticed more birdsong in early morning dog walkies the last two days. It will really crank up here in late March and April. I need to double check, but I think this is the year our 17 year cicadas come out. I am looking forward to Ramsey's reaction to large protein packets buzzing about. We have lots of species of regular cicadas. But there is also species of cicadas that only emerge every 17 years. There are groups of these in the mid- Atlantic area and parts of the mid west. They do so by the billions. The noise they make sounds like a deafening alien spaceship. As they emerge and pupate, the yard has so many shed skins, that the husks can be inches deep. It's pretty spectacular. They have no defenses, no camouflage, goal is to emerge all at once and predators eat so many that the rest can mate. Then they lay eggs, larvae then feed off tree roots for 17 years.

So there are different species. Got it. It just seems that the cycle is a bit more frequent in our experience.

That Marjorie Taylor Greene person and her ilk--it's not enough for them to implement terrible policies that come from a place of deep unkindness.  It's not even enough for them to know that the victims of their policies suffer from the results of the policies.  It's somehow critical for them to know that the victims of their policies understand that they are undeserving of kindness.

It's not enough to work to ensure that trans people are denied human rights; it's important to sneer at supporters and families as well as at trans people themselves because otherwise they might think if they work to change hearts and minds they will one day get to sit at the cool kids' lunch table, and that's just not going to happen, Gretchen.  It's important to remind people EVERY DAY that they are undeserving of kindness.

It's the cruelty that matters.  As if kindness were a commodity that should be hoarded and doled out to the highest bidder.
