Cancel Culture Cancels Conservative Civil-War. News at 11

Cancel Culture  is just a contrived grievance so conservatives can play victim. It is nothing more than a rebranding of Political Correctness. In reality, conservatives want a forever pass on the Golden Rule.

Do tell.

Fta: ""Here is what they have done and are in the process of doing so far: cutting border security, granting amnesty to illegals, cancelling the Keystone pipeline destroying thousands of jobs, allowing males to compete in women's sports, banning fracking on federal lands making us less energy independent and using tax dollars to pay for abortion in foreign countries."

So... bigotry, bigotry, big oil whore + lying about jobs, transphobia, big oil again and religious based misogyny?

We get it, Scott.

The GOP are a coalition of racist bigots, big oil whores, sexists and extremist religious bigots.

I see one or two bullshiat points that are at least vaguely plausible, and the rest are Christian conservative scare points with no basis in normal, everyday 4-dimensional reality.

This. Whenever I hear 'cancel' and it is not about an event or TV program, I assume the speaker is using the term to avoid saying what he really means.

In practice, the term has the same meaning as 'politically correct' - "stuff I don't like." That doesn't tell us much.

The Great Purge: The Deformation of the Conservative Movement Paperback - April 1, 2015
by Paul E. Gottfried (Editor), Richard B. Spencer (Editor)

A central crucible in the evolution of the American Right has been "the purge"-that is, the expulsion, often in an explicit fashion, of views or individuals deemed outside the bounds of "respectability." Victims include the John Birch Society, Peter Brimelow, John Derbyshire, Sam Francis, Revilo P. Oliver, Murray Rothbard, foreign-policy makers deemed "isolationists," immigration reformers, and many others. This essay collection is an attempt to better understand conservative ideology (often euphemized as "timeless principles") and how it functioned within its historic context and responded to power, shifting conceptions of authority, and societal changes. Through the purges, we can glimpse what conservatism is not, those aspects of itself it has attempted to deny, mask, leave behind, and forget, and the ways in which memories can be reconstructed around new orthodoxies. Contributors include Peter Brimelow, Lee Congdon, John Derbyshire, Samuel T. Francis, Paul Gottfried, James Kalb, Keith Preston, William Regnery, and Richard Spencer.

The short version is:  "Buckley was just as much of racist and an anti-Semite as the rest of us, so how come WE got canceled?!"  It's kind of funny (and at the same time, intensely sad) to think that there are people who believe that the right should be more openly racist.

dogdaze: Cancel Culture .... is nothing more than a rebranding of Political Correctness.

"Cancel Culture" exists because Trump turned his term into a TV show.

Lots of "guest stars" who appeared on a single episode, cliffhangers, etc. The Orange Buffoon was always commenting on his ratings.

Now he's pissed because no other network has picked up his show.

Trump wanted exactly three things out of the presidency:

1) he wanted to be the absolute center of everyone's attention, both in the United States and around the world, and in a way that no one could ignore.  It didn't make any difference to him if that attention was positive or negative.  Nor did it make any difference to him if it was exactly the same kind of attention you'd pay your bus driver if he was driving in the oncoming lane at 120 for thirty miles with his eyes closed, or an armed gunman who was using the wall behind you for target practice.   He's so narcissistic that it's all equally acceptable to him. His personal history for the last forty years is proof of thus.

2) he wanted wealth and power.  He considers it his due.  To this end, the law and any norms for the office were completely irrelevant.   He wanted it, he was going to get his way, no matter who he had to harm.  He also goes out of his way to punish anyone who dares to tell him no, regardless of the reason why.  Which brings us to:

3) he wanted to be able to use the position to get even with everyone who has ever so much as inconvenienced him or even vaguely offended him, from his actual enemies to the people who merely failed to vote for him.  He is so vindictive and spiteful that he never even made a pretense of being a leader for the people of this country.  In fact, he made a point of telling us that he only ever intended to represent the fraction of Americans who voted for his circus act, and made it plain that he wished nothing but ill and harm on everyone else.  He is the first president who actually made it clear he intended to punish a sizable fraction of his own people, and then dance on their misery out of sheer spite.

Literally every single aspect of his poisonous personality and life habits was on show, for decades.  Nothing was secret.  Nothing was hidden. And yet, millions of people saw it all, and decided that this is exactly what they wanted: someone who could burn down everything out of sheer, high-octane, venomous spite.
