I used to be a Mariners fan. Don't know if I ever will be again. I said I'd go back once they stopped being embarrassing...

What a clusterfark that speech was. Throwing a whole organization under the bus to curry favor with a bunch of Rotarians.

On the service time issue, Mather is guilty of saying the quiet part out loud. Everybody knows that many, if not all, teams do this. In Kelenic's case there would have been very plausible deniability because the guy doesn't even have 100 ABs above A ball (and, of course, didn't play any official games at all in 2020). You can easily say he needs more seasoning no matter how much he rakes in camp.

Too bad those newer guys don't have that much leverage (til next bargaining battle). It would be interesting to see a guy publicly declare that he would never resign with an organization that holds him out for the service clock. Or that he'd play out his contract but would never play a postseason game for a club that would do that. It'd be a baller move but man, you'd have to back it up on the field.

Pay attention to Jack Flaherty and the Cardinals, then.  He's been pissed off about every bit of his contract since he joined the club.  And didn't the Cubs do this to Bryant, as well?

I think the CBA is up after this season, as well.  I'm expecting a lockout after this season is over.

Meh.  Anyone that attends a church with an aging congregation is used to that.  Thank heavens for incense.

I refuse to purchase any gear or watch any games until they stop being embarrassing and at least have a sniff of the playoffs. I just had to go cold turkey. Too many years of "Oh this year so and so is coming up from the minors and they'll finally be some help for Felix and Kyle!"

/PLAYOFFS???

I will occasionally have a game on if I am doing chores around the house, but back in 2019 I decided not to waste money on attending games until they improve.

/Last time I bought a Mariners cap was in 2017.
