(Some Guy)   Oops, forgot to open up that great bottle of wine so it can breathe before service? Just toss it in the blender. And hey, at this point you may as well add a banana and some ice cubes   (cooksillustrated.com) divider line

"You might want to let that breathe, nothing."

Idk his name, but the guy who discovered this really pissed off the high end wine community. If I remember right he realized a blender would do the job quickly and secretly served it to a panel of judges at a competition and recieved high praise until he told them about the blender, at which they tried to backtrack their positive remarks.

Yep.. it works great with home brew that isn't quite ready, too. Vacuum filtering does the same thing to help degas the wine quicker.

That's fantastic. I do love it when wine snobs get their expensive silk underthings in a bunch.

There's a little plastic gizmo that we bought that burbles the wine as you pore it.

Decanting wine with a pitcher and a funnel doesn't take much effort. No need to dirty up a blender.

Opening a bottle does nothing, other than possibly blowing off some bottle stink from places that go heavy on the sulfur dioxide.

If you want the wine to 'breathe', you need to decant it.  If you forget to do it in advance, then decant and swirl vigorously.

If that's not enough, then you should have let the bottle age a few more years in the first place.

Every time I dirty a sippy cup to drink my box wine I wish I could just jab a big straw in it like a capri sun but I think it'd make a mess.

I have one of those.  It really doesn't do much good.  I'm going to try the dual-pitcher method next time.

I once worked with a high end wine maker.

I asked what made his wine that much better than the winery further down the road.

" They have 1000X the vines I have and make an excellent product, all my vines come from their cuttings. I use a a different fertilizer and smaller barrels to age, after that I put a labor on it that costs 4X the cost of what's inside and get to kissing ass of buyers"

Go to the right size medical tubing you can turn it into a camel pack pretty easily.
