There are plenty of reasons other than the mean tweets to oppose Neera Tanden:

- Her inability to hold private information as revealed by her revealing the identity of a sexual harassment victim to the entire staff at a meeting.
- Her inability to manager at CAP.
- Her criticism and muzzling of thinkprogress writers at the behest of aipac.
- Union busting by closing down thinkprogress shortly after unionization under CAP.
- Her defense of the Iraq War votes.

But, if she is rejected for Mean Tweets, it will be the right action for the wrong reasons.

It seems that no matter how vicious and cruel they are, they demand they be praised and worshipped for it or else they'll regard your lack of ass-kissing to be "mean".

They truly have the mindset of abusive boyfriends.

If there is a silver lining to the Trump administration, narrow and tarnished though it may be, it's that you don't ever have to validate what a Republican thinks or feels about anything, ever again.

White supremacy is a big part of the party, but their main goal is to keep labor cheap, and keep the wealthy wealthy. The white supremacy was just a way to get racist poor white people to cheer on the people who want to pay them as little as possible, but it got out of control.

It's more the "minority woman" thing than the "spoke up against oppression" thing.  If Republicans pulled their head out of their ass for 5 seconds they'd realise she'd be their strongest ally against Warren's and Sanders' efforts to bring the US out of the dark ages.

Luckily for all of you they aren't capable of that much foresight.

Why does this situation have to involve enemies and friends? This is about figuring out if the person the president nominated to fill a role is capable of leading a large organization, is willing to support the organization's mission rather than thwart it, and is willing to support the president's priorities.

No, the white supremacy is extremely sincere. It's not JUST a tool of the powers that be in the Republican party.

It is a foundational belief. That it is also extremely handy for getting poor white people to fark themselves over is just a nice fringe benefit.

This belief on the part of many Democrats and "progressives" that most rich white Republican aren't really racist is denial.

They absolutely are racist as fark, but many of them (obviously not all of them) are savvy enough to keep it on the down-low.

Is she qualified and can she do the job as POTUS intends her to do?

I mean, this minimum measure was not applied to nearly ANY cabinet position held by the kakistocracy that Trump installed during his administration. One would think, even with some mean tweets, that the standard should apply now. Tanden is very qualified and even if she is disliked, the obstruction is simply that.

Ask Manchin what he wants to hear to confirm her, make sure she says it, get the 50+1 and move on to other matters. Ffs.

That was a stupid (brain-dead stupid) comment she made 10 years ago. Has she learned from that? That should be a valid question asked in the senate hearing. I wouldn't hold something that a person said 10 years ago against the person, unless they're Republicans because we know they don't change their views under any circumstances. But has she changed her views?

from: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/neera-tanden-biden-budget-twitter-ted-cruz-b1799882.html

He noted that in the past she has criticised Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz of Texas, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, and Susan Collins of Maine.

Mr Portman reminded Ms Tanden that she called Senator Collins "the worst", said that Senator Cotton "is a fraud", said that "vampires have more heart than Ted Cruz", and called Senator McConnell "Moscow Mitch" and "Voldemort".

He added that "there are still nine pages of tweets about Senator Cruz".
Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma noted that, more generally, she had called Republicans "criminally ignorant", "corrupt", and "the worst".

I mean...just damn. That's unforgivable.  Pack it up, folks. Tanden's dead in the water. No way she recovers from this (actually she probably wont, because vagina).

Biden's been in office a month and half his staff hasn't even been confirmed yet, so no?  I don't know why anyone would expect the last 40 years of economic self-harm to be fixed in 4 weeks.

Biden needs to do better than a person who uses the word "Progress" in her brand's name, yet admonishes Progressives and their policies.

Well, you're going to get fundamental change one way or the other. If it's not progressive fundamental change now, it will be more draconian, mercenary conservative fundamental change in the future, and this president is determining which way that goes.

If you don't want the latter, you should work to see that the former happens.
