Photos FTA. If I ever build a lodge, I am definitely going to decorate it with the (non-typical) types listed. They look amazing.

I've always been creeped out by the animal head on the wall vibe. Trophy hunting in general doesn't impress me.

If I build a lodge, I'll decorate it with books, guitars, keyboards, drums, parlor games, a wet bar and walk in keg cooler. And also drugs.

I hope they threw it back after the photo so it can continue to breed

Goddamn that is a beautiful fish. When I saw the picture my chef brain went immediately to how to prepare it, then my fisherman brain said fark you, respect it as a beautiful catch.

I have some good trout recipes, but always looking for something better. Go on farkers

That's too bad. Would have been better left in the water.

There are conflicting opinions whether ice fishing throwbacks have high mortality rates. Probably around a 20% mortality rate for released fish. Maybe closer to 16% if using a heated hut. Some sources say nearly 100% mortality in colder temps due to freezing of gills and eyes.

Any big fish suspended from the gut like that is likely dead.

Sad. It would be nice to see the big fish stay around to breed

I like how they show the records for other animals too. It was very interesting.

Pretty fish, but I've heard that lake trout aren't good eating.

The big ones are old apex predators, so toxin concentrators.  Combine that with the high lead and mercury levels in the water of a reservoir and you basically have fish-flavoured heavy metals.

Small lake trout are ok tasting, but nothing special compared to some freshwater fish.

Camped there several times with scouts and family.  Beautiful place.
