Sounds amazing. Not something to eat every day, but I imagine one of these would be heavenly at the end of a night of drinking.

so first pretend you're very very drunk, right?  To the point where you'll eat anything?

And there you have it; the chip butty, QED.

so they are jut ripping off the common Japanese dish?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry_bread
Curry bread (カレーパン, karē pan) is a popular Japanese food. It consists of Japanese curry wrapped in a piece of dough, which is then coated in bread crumbs and deep fried.[1] On occasion it is baked instead of deep fried, but deep frying is the most common method of cooking.

I occasionally get a cyrry pan from my local Japanese food store but it is baked not fried with a small amount of curry sauce in the middle of a fluffy bun.

yeahno, much as I will eat 27 kinds of incorrect British food, that's just a bit off the charts.

not really the biggest fan of the plain chip-butty, but with some slight improvements it becomes vaguely-edible?
- sliced Ciabatta torpedo, well-buttered on both sides.
- Kewpie mayonnaise on bottom layer
- large amounts of Bibb red+green lettuce, torn by hand
- ridiculous amount of perfectly-recrisped day-old fries
- sliced ripe plum tomato
- dashes of Shichimi/Togarashii
- Polish Dill pickle spear

A bit, but I doubt it's Japanese curry, it's probably closer to tikka masala, and the Brits have been making tikka masala pasties for ages.
