(Axios)   In his speech on Sunday, Donald Trump will claim total control of the GOP and that he is the presumptive 2024 nominee. This is certainly not a distraction from his tax issues   (axios.com) divider line

He is the presumptive nominee, no one will go against the cult now- what makes you think they do it in 2 years when the campaign ramps up?

Someone has to convict him first... history doesn't necessarily have the best track record with holding American political bosses to account.

Can't we just ignore CPAC like always?

Trump.... He's not wrong.

"You can't indict a presidential candidate!"

He'd do the same without tax issues, ya know.

CPAC and Trump both need to be ignored.

We need to get people in government open to Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.

F*ck these assholes.

Don't forget his rape and other sexual assault allegation.

No need to just limit it to taxes.

The courts could give a fark about media distractions.

I don't think the people earning their paychecks poring over his tax documents are going to be distracted. What he says at his Losers Love Losers rally is not relevant.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but is there any chance he gets booed?

He absolutely will be the nominee. The GOP is all in on Trump and has been since he showed unprecedented usefulness.

Be prepared. If Donald dies, they'll go all-in on Donald Jr. or Ivanka. That family is their winning play now, fervently backed by brainwashed hicks, domestic terrorists, and plutocrats who want to don't want poor people to escape poverty and don't want to pay taxes.

I'm done paying attention to him. He can blabber on daily for all I care. Loser.

Have you... um  ...met CPAC?

Cos yeah, no.

I'd put that in the not likely category. He does have money and has been very good at dodging consequences his whole life.  My suggestion is to vote in every election and do not vote Republican. We cannot keep this country safe with Republicans in charge.

Hahahaha so the  'Conservative' gathering rally around the one non-conservative populist, while their actual ultra-nutjob conservative avoids their cult gathering.

Can we now proclaim an end to modern day Conservatism? That failure stemming from the 1970s, blossomed in the 1980s, openly corrupted by 1990s, failed in 2000s is once and for all DOA

SVC_conservative: He is the presumptive nominee, no one will go against the cult now- what makes you think they do it in 2 years when the campaign ramps up?

The bigger question is whether the big money GOP donors are willing to go down this road with Trump again.  We know he doesn't really have the money to self-finance another run, and he is more than willing to pocket campaign funds for himself and the cronies around him.

For now, he can keep the Trump Show going for the most rabid of the party (nee:  CPAC) but money will probably be what does him in for good.

That chance is represented by a number that's larger than zero but too small to measure with the current limits of science.

I bet all of the Senate Republicans who thought 2024 could be their year to run for POTUS are regretting their choice to acquit.

who?

We'll know in 2020. If hitching your wagon as a GOP nominee to this mule gets you elected, then they will continue to swing off his crusty old ballsack and blow smoke up his enfeebled ass while defending his lunacy, stupidity, and terrible ways. If those who hitch their wagon to him don't get elected, they may all finally put grampy in the corner where he can shiat his pants in peace and GOP hopefuls wont be required to tongue bathe his nasty taint clean.

I don't see any reason that he can't just wash foreign money through existing entities like they did with the millions from the NRA. Literally nobody is stopping them.

I can't wait for him to die, straining on the toilet to expel his last well-done porterhouse.

He should tell Texans how accepting help to pay their outrageous electric bills or getting bottled water is accepting a socialist handout.  That'll show them that he's the right nominee for the GQP.

And you'll be there to support them over those yucky democrats every step of the way.

Trump is the Republican Party. He's correct.

He didn't have to be, and Congressional Republicans were given chance after chance to take it back from him only to refuse that option every time.

Y'all won't be taking your party back from him. If you don't like that, it's high time you stopped voting Republican or identifying as one. Y'all are the Trump party.

I'd like to see him have some real court dates.  No more farking delays.  Maybe some of the buried Mueller shiat can be released.  I know he's a mockable pathetic turd, but I'm not underestimating his motives, which are to burn everything down.  He needs to be burned down first.

and he farking destroyed them in 2016.  It's hard to understand their calculus.  He is going to treat anyone who runs against him as a scorched earth enemy.

Unless they know he's going to jail, I don't get it.

Either one month has been enough fresh air for people to snap out of Trumpism or they'll come running back like an abused spouse to a sociopath despite being told repeatedly it'll be the end of them.

Trump won't be the nominee but if Republicans don't cut the cancer out then trump will absolutely try to play kingmaker/spoiler in 2024 and chase any competent candidates out if the primaries.

He's had severe COVID and was already in poor health before that. I'd be very surprised if he survives to 2024.

The Republican party deserves this.

But many Americans do not.

Why would he be the 24 nomimee? He won in 2020, remember. All the cheating, voter fraud, and discrepancies.

The only way he could run in 24 is admitting he lost.

Which is it, MISTER PRESIDENT? Are you a loser or banned by the constitution from running again?

I am sure that he will suggest that was stolen, so he gets a do-over and another 2 terms.  Then El Presidente for life.

He hasn't admitted losing in 2020.  So he is still the president.  How is he even allowed to be the candidate?

Trump is expected to stoke primary challenges for some of those who have crossed him, and shower money and endorsements on the Trumpiest candidates.

I believe the latter, but I'm skeptical of the former. The promise of money maybe.
