Maybe he realized that buying $6.5 million worth of Bitcoin would drive up the price of Bitcoin.

He still got "paid" exactly what his original salary was at the time of payment. Just because he got paid in an investment commodity that then increased in value, doesn't change the value if his initial contract.

FTFA: "When we are all paid in bitcoin, no one can tell us what to do with the value we create ... In a post-fiat world, you won't have to worry about your labor and time being stolen."

Either he's talking about the Italian car maker going bankrupt or he has absolutely no idea what fiat currency is because Bitcoin is the very definition of fiat currency, only lacking the full faith and credit of the United States. The only way anyone knows the value of Bitcoin is by describing it in terms of the very currency he's holding in contempt. If Bitcoin's value collapses he loses money. If the US Dollar collapses he loses everything.

The contract is denominated in dollars.  The more Bitcoin rises in dollar-denominated price, the less Bitcoins he gets paid.  How well has he thought this through?

That's not...ENTIRELY accurate.  Bitcoins value is not based on the value of any particular fiat currency.  While dollar valuation IS a large driver, it's not the entire backbone of the system.  if the dollar somehow became worthless, BTC would still hold value in world markets.

His other assertion is even more stupid than that.

FTFA: When we are all paid in bitcoin, no one can tell us what to do with the value we create ... In a post-fiat world, you won't have to worry about your labor and time being stolen.

By using Bitcoin, or any cryptocurrency, as a substitute for US Dollars you are inserting the government into each and every single transaction you make. Every single transaction IS A TAXABLE EVENT. You are required to track the cost basis of the commodity that you are using.
