Man who did a job defends his past role in that overall work. It's not news, it's Fark entertainment tab!

"That house may have been built upon an allegedly shoddy foundation, but I did a killer job on the faucet instillation!"

"Contractor defends construction that collapsed and killed family."

Personally... I think it was better than the second one. But I like Jeff Goldblum better now than I did when I decided that so I may be wrong. Or it could be Vince Vaughn's fault, I kinda wrote it off years ago.

The only good one was the first one. The newer ones with Pratt are just so meh and unnecessary.

I have a friend who works in film and he was a PA on set with Sam Neil years ago. Said Sam Neil is a prick who is extremely particular about his tea, he likes it a very specific strength. So every time my buddy gets him tea Sam Neil makes him carefully dip the tea bag 20 times in the cup so he can see. And he counts every single dip, out loud. One through twenty. Every time.

I like JP3 over 2. It is a more consistent tone and the plot is a bit less wonky. There isn't half island, half San Diego craziness.

But in anticipation that the internet thinks you love it, or hate it, with no in between:

Jurassic Park 10/10
JP2 6/10
JP3 6.5/10

Not that i wouldn't watch JP2, but everything after the Rex goes to the mainland is boring. The island is where the good stuff is.

I mean, Jurassic Park 3 was good at what it was trying to do: be a "Aaugh, dinosaurs! RUN!" movie.

It did a good job at being that. Certainly better than the two recent movies.

Neither 2 nor 3 are classics like the first one is, but they don't need to be. All they need to do is to be fun. They accomplish that.

If Jurassic Park III was the only movie that came out from the entire series, but at the same time Jurassic Park originally came out - people would have still gone bonkers for it.

They're all garbage except for the first.

The second book is pretty good, but there was zero need for more movies after the first one.

/I was one of the kids who read ALL michael chrichton books when i was 12-15... this would have been circa 1993-96.. My favorite was the andromeda strain.

JP 3 is just a cheap-looking film.  The dino effects are okay for the most part, but that opening scene with the glider..... lol.

I like JPIII because it gives us the set pieces from the first novel that were left out of the first movie, like the pterosaur aviary and the boat trip while being stalked by the T. Rex (replaced in the movie by a spinosaur).

It's the second-best Jurassic Park movie. So. I mean. Kind of?

/ Literally entirely because of Sam Neil though, so that's cheating.
// We didn't need any more b-movie Jurassic Parks after that one. It b-movie'd at a college level. Stop. Make actually-good ones, or stop. You won't top JP3 at "bad Jurassic Park".

Yeah, I don't get this complaint either. Elle MacPherson goes completely nude. Sam Neill does not go completely nude. Most Farkers would take that as a strong recommend.

Well I guess I'll have to watch it again, though if memory serves Chris Pratt calls her out on it in the movie

What was so great about the original book and the movie that the later movies lost was that the dinosaurs (mostly) weren't the bad guys. It was a classic techno-thriller in the sense of "men build complex system, experience unforeseen consequences" while the later ones were "good guys go to island to fight bad guys and dinosaurs".

This is probably why I enjoy the first Jurassic World - it hearkens back to that "you were so preoccupied with whether you could that you didn't stop to think whether you should, oh crap here come the consequences" theme of the first one, though ultimately the bad guys and bad dinosaurs plot took over. Also I'm a big Chris Pratt fan.

As others have pointed out, the greedy Hollywood producers and stupid farking people are the only reason we live in a universe where the original Jurassic Park isn't the only one that was made.

The first one, period, end of story.  I pretend like the other ones DO NOT EXIST, because they are all shiat, and they shouldn't have ever been made.

Same with Jaws, Predator, Beverly Hills Cop, The Terminator, First Blood, I can go on and on.  Sequels to truly great movies rarely work, and fark all you dumbasses who make them profitable.

Vince Vaughn is the villain in JP2.   His Nick van Owen character is responsible for every single death in that film.  Every single one.  He is portrayed as the "good guy", but he's a farkin' monster.  The film should have ended with him being eaten by the baby T. rex.  Or at least being arrested.

You don't think Terminator 2 works as a sequel? Really?

Also, Jaws 2 isn't bad.

I wanted more dinosaurs, I got more dinosaurs. The plot worked enough to have a reason for more dinosaurs. Was it amazing? Eh. But I wasn't bored, and that's the important thing.

Actually Jurassic Park 2 would have been a lot better if they left in the cut scene with Pete Postlethwaite (from The Usual Suspects), the guy who wanted to  kill the T-Rex. He beat the shiat out of some prick who was harassing a girl, he did it just because he was bored. Then at the end of the film he didn't want to kill the T-Rex after seeing his best friend killed. The whole character arc thing.

Actually in the film he's the most practical person, and shows more concern for people than most of the characters.

Right but he used a crippled T-Rex child as bait to kill an adult. After his friend died he was done with killing, that's a character arc.

Who cares what Sam Neill thinks? He's barking mad after all. He reads Sutter Cane.
